Managing settings on your Fitbit Surge
To customize your experience with your Surge, you can change a number of settings
directly on the device. For information on changing settings using the Fitbit.com
dashboard, see “Managing your Surge from Fitbit.com” on page 31.
To change settings on your Surge:
1. Display the Menu on your Surge, then swipe to Settings.
2. Press the Select button or tap the screen, then scroll up or down to view
available settings.
3. When you see the setting you want to change, press the Select button until
you find the option you want to use.
The settings available on your Surge are:
• Heart Rate Tracking
• Backlight
• Notifications
• Bluetooth Classic
• Shutdown
• Regulatory Info
Heart Rate Tracking
This setting controls when your Surge heart rate monitor is active. Available options
are:
• Auto (the default) – The heart rate monitor is generally active only when you
are wearing your Surge.
• Off – The heart rate monitor is never active.
• On – The heart rate monitor is always active; you may want to choose this
option if your heart rate isn’t being monitored even though you are wearing
your tracker.
If you remove your Surge but it keeps moving, for example if you put it in a pocket or
backpack, it may record an erroneous heart rate reading. You can prevent this by
changing the setting to Off.
