2 Correct use
The CMS-MOD-BS 120 stationary belt sander
has been designed as a sander and polisher
for plastics, wood and wood-like materials. It
can also be used for metals to a lesser extent
considering the non-resistant aluminium table
and increased belt wear.
The belt sander module CMS-MOD-BS 120
may only be used in connection with basic
unit CMS-GE.
The user bears the responsibility for
damage and accidents caused by im-
proper use.
3 Please read before starting work
3.1 Safety instructions
Please read the safety instructions on the
enclosed leaet before starting work
Wear safety goggles during sanding
Do not use torn or damaged sanding belts
Make sure that the guards provided are
correctly mounted before starting work
Make sure that no components such as
stops, extractors, guards, etc. catch on
the belt by rotating by hand before starting
work
Check that the belt is correctly adjusted by
rotating by hand before starting work
Remove any objects which are not part of
the machine or are not needed for work
from the table before starting the ma-
chine.
3.2 Noise information
The noise measurements were carried out
according to the instructions in EN 61029.
Emission values at place of work
Idling/processing: 76/82 dB(A)
Noise power level
Idling/processing: 89/95 dB(A)
Measurement tolerance K = 4 dB
Wear ear protection!
The emission values specified (vibration,
noise) were measured in accordance with
the test conditions stipulated in EN 61029
and are intended for machine comparisons.
They are also used for making preliminary
estimates regarding vibration and noise loads
during operation.
The emission values specied refer to the
main applications for which the power tool
is used. If the electric power tool is used
for other applications, with other tools or is
not maintained sufciently prior to opera-
tion, however, the vibration and noise load
may be higher when the tool is used. Take
into account any machine idling times and
downtimes to estimate these values more
accurately for a specied time period. This
may signicantly reduce the load during the
machine operating period.
3.3 Metalworking
If the tool is used predominantly for process-
ing metals the inside of the drive may become
very dirty. In such cases we recommend
shorter cleaning cycles and/or the use of a
fault current (FI) safety switch.
4 Fitting the CMS-MOD-BS 120 in the
CMS-GE
Ensure that the plugs on the CMS-GE’s
and CMS-MOD-BS 120’s mains leads are
not connected to the mains socket before
starting assembly work. The CMS-MOD-BS
120 module unit is laid in the groove in the
table in such a way that the work piece ap-
proaches the belt sander’s sanding area
from the left (sanding area accessible from
the left). Hold the unit against the grooves
(1.1) when assembling and rstly insert the
connecting lead into the table frame. Use a
screwdriver to tighten the two locking screws
(1.11) which hold the CMS-MOD-BS 120 in
the table.
The enclosed handle (3.1) is screwed into the
lever and the extractor hood (2.1) fastened
in the groove in the table with the rotary
knob (2.2).
5 Electrical connections and starting
The mains voltage must be identical to
that specied on the ratings plate. A 10 A
fuse (for the 230 V model) or corresponding
power breaker are adequate. The CMS-MOD-
