3. REPLACING THE SAW BLADE
1. Stop the circular sawing machine and remove the
mains plug from the mains (the wall socket);
2. Turn the saw blade by means of the hand wheel to the
highest position;
3. Dissemble the protective cap and remove the inlay
plate from the bench;
4. Using the supplied open-end wrench and axle loc-
king pin, loosen and remove the left bolt on the engi-
ne axle, including the outermost flange.
- Remove the saw blade through the opening in the
bench top;
-Fit a new saw blade in reverse order;
- Reapply the flange and bolt and fasten them with
the open-end wrench supplied (attention: left
screw thread).
5. If the saw blade is not in parallel with the edge of the
table insert, loosen the 6 pieces M6 x 12 screws
which fix the supporting plate (nr. 9 & 10) onto the
working table. Then adjust the supporting plates
slightly to let the saw blade parallel to the edge of the
table insert, then fix the supporting plates again.
SAW BLADES
Please note that HSS saw blades should not be used on
this machine. Saw blades must be in conformity with
prEN-847-1
DUST EXTRACTION
For trouble free and safe use of the machine inside closed
rooms it is necessary to connect the machine to a dust ex-
traction system. For example a portable industrial va-
cuum cleaner. The minimum airspeed should be at least
20 m/s, with an under pressure of 1.6kN/m
2
(1600Pa) and
a volume of at least 24m
3
/h.
MAINTENANCE
ATTENTION: For maintenance and cleaning always re-
move the mains plug from the mains (wall socket). Never
use water or other liquids for cleaning the electrical parts
of the sawing machine.
Periodical maintenance of the sawing machine will pre-
vent unnecessary problems:
- Carefully clean the outside of both the sawing machi-
ne and the engine, so that efficient cooling can take
place.
- Keep the bench top clean so that during sawing no ir-
regularities occur when guiding workpieces along the
straight-edge.
-Regularly check the saw blade for tears, cracks and
broken blunt teeth. Replace the saw blade if in doubt.
- Replace table insert when worn.
MALFUNCTIONS
In the case that the machine does not function properly,
we give below a number of possible causes and appro-
priate solutions.
The text printed in bold indicates the malfunction;
The normal text indicates the possible cause;
The text printed in italics gives the appropriate solu-
tion.
The electromotor becomes hotter than 70° Celsius.
- The electromotor is overloaded due to a large work-
piece diameter or too high a sawing speed.
- Saw at a lower speed and allow the motor to cool
down.
-The cooling air slots in the motor are blocked by dirt.
-Clean the cooling air slots.
- The motor is faulty.
-Present the machine to your Ferm dealer for a
check and/or repair.
The switched on machine is not working.
- The motor has switched off due to the thermal safety
device because the motor was overloaded.
-After allowing the motor to cool down for a while,
switch it on again by pressing the GREEN button
of the safety switch.
-Interruption in the mains connection.
Check mains connection for a crack.
-Damaging of the safety switch.
Present the machine to your Ferm dealer for a
check and/or repair.
No starting moment. The machine is humming.
-The capacitor is faulty.
-Have the capacitor (Type Facon 20 µF" 5%
450VAC, 50Hz) check-ed and/or replaced at your
Ferm dealer.
The workpiece moves with great difficulty in a
straight line along the saw blade and the saw cut is ir-
regular.
-The saw blade is bent or blunt.
- Replace the saw blade.
- The straight-edge has been fastened badly.
-Clean the guide rails and attach the straight-edge
properly.
The workpiece begins to vibrate violently during sa-
wing.
- The saw blade has become overheated or deformed.
- Replace the saw blade.
