Verwendung von Festplatten

DamitIhrRAIDzuverlässigfunktioniert,empfehlenwirdenEinsatz gleicher

Festplatten: von gleicher Größe,vomgleichenHersteller und vom gleichen

Herstellungsdatum.

RAID 0

• WennineinemRAID0eineFestplatteausfällt,fälltderRAID0-Verbundkom-

plett aus.

• Ein RAID 0 SpanningbietetdieMöglichkeit,auchunterschiedlicheFestplatten

zuverwenden.DiesistnurdanneineguteLösung,wenndiegespeicherten

Datenwirklichredundantsind.AlsArchivsind“alteFestplatten”keinegute

Lösung. Alte Festplatten fallen irgendwann endgültig aus und Ihr Archiv ist dann

verloren.

RAID 1

• EinRAID1arbeitetweiter,selbstwenneineFestplattedefektist.Dieausgefal-

leneFestplattesollteschnellstmöglichausgetauschtwerden,daeinweiterer

Festplattenausfall den kompletten Datenverlust zur Folge hat. Wir empfehlen

eine Datensicherung durchzuführen, bevor Sie die neue Festplatte einsetzen.

Das Austauschen einer Festplatte mit dem anschließenden Wiederaufbau des

SpiegelsbeanspruchtbeideFestplattendeutlich–esbestehtdieGefahr,dass

auch die andere Festplatte dabei ausfällt.

• Durch den Einsatz einer neuen Festplatte wird der Neuaufbau des Spiegels

(“rebuild”)ausgelöst.SiekönnendieFestplatteeinfachwährenddesBetriebes

einsetzen. Der reibungslose Betrieb des RAID 1 wird dadurch allerdings oft-

mals gestört. Das Wiederaufbauen des Spiegels dauert mehrere Stunden - er ist

abhängig von der Größe und der Verarbeitungsgeschwindigkeit der Festplatten.

auf den Festplatten beobachten. Der Datenträger kann in dieser Phase zwar

benutztwerden,dieZeitfürdenWiederaufbaudesSpiegelswirddadurchaber

verlängert.
