the sides and gently manoeuvre into position. Plug the re into a 13amp/240 volt outlet. Ensure that
the supply cable exits at the front of the re, at the right or left hand corner to suit your supply socket
location and is not trapped under the re such that it might cause it to be damaged.
Before using the manual controls rstly ll the water tank (See ‘Maintenance’ , ‘Filling the water
tank’).
Manual Controls .
The Opti-myst Manual controls ar e located behind the drawer front. Slide out the draw er to access the
controls. (See F ig. 2 for Manual Contr ol lay out)
Switch ‘ A ’:- Controls the electricity supply to the heater .
Note: This switch must be in the ‘ON’ ( I ) position for the heater to operate with or without heat.
Switch ‘B’:- Controls the function of the re.
Press
once to turn on ame e ect. This will be indicated b y one beep.
Although the main lights operate immediately it will take a further 30 seconds before the ame
e ect starts.
Press it again to give ame e ec t and heat. This will be indicated by two beeps.
Press it again to return to ame e ec t only.

Switch ‘C’:- Controls the mist extractor motor.
There are two speeds for the mist extractor motor , low and high. This function is required to eliminate
concensation on the glass. When the unit is switched on the mist extractor motor will run at high
speed for 1 minute and then will default to the switch setting .
Thumb Wheel ‘D’:- Controls the mist output.
Pressing the wheel up will increase the ammount of mist pr oduced and pressing the wheel down
decreaces the ammount of mist produced.
Note: Should condendsation occure on the glass, simply turn do wn the mist and switch the mist
estractor motor to high speed until the concensation has been eliminated.
When the water is empty the main lamps go out. See instructions under ‘Maintenance ’ , ‘Filling the
water tank’ . When this procedur e is complete, the main lamps will illuminate but it will take 30 seconds
before the ames return.
Remote Control Oper ation
On the control panel, Switch A (see F ig. 2) must be in the ‘ON’ ( I ) position in order for the remote contr ol
to operate. There ar e 3 buttons on the remote control . (See Fig. 7)
T o operate correctly the remote must be pointed towards the front fuel e ect.
The remote control functions are as f ollows:
Press once to turn on F lame e ec t only .
This will be indicated by one beep .
Press once to turn on Heat and F lame e ect.
This will be indicated by tw o beeps.
Standby
This will be indicated by one beep .
Battery Information.
1. Unclip the battery cover on the back of the remote control . (See Fig. 7)
2. Install AAA batteries into the remote control .
3. Replace the battery cover .
Discard leaky batteries.
Dispose of batteries in the proper manner according t o provincial and local regulations.
Any battery may leak electrolyte if mixed with a di erent battery type, if inser ted incorrectly , if all the
batteries are not replaced at the same time , if disposed of in a re, or if an attempt is made to char ge a
battery not intended to be recharged.
Thermal safety cut-out
A thermal safety cut-out is incorporated in the fan heater to prevent damage due to o verheating. This
can happen if the heat outlet was restricted in any way or if the chimney ue has not been blocked o
e ec tively . If the cut-out operates, unplug the heater from the socket outlet and allow approximately
10 minutes before rec onnecting. Before switching the heater back on r emove any obstruction that
may be restricting the heat outlet, then continue normal operation.
Tips for using y our appliance.
1. Only pull out the drawer when its time to re ll the water tank or change a lamp, otherwise it may
lead to excess water in the sump and reduc ed ame e ect. I f this happens empty the water from
the sump as instructed under ‘Maintenance’ .
2. With the ame setting on minimum the unit will use approximately 40ml of water per hour and
will last 3 times as long than when it is at maximum ame setting.
3. Do not tilt or move the re while there is water in the tank or sump.
4. Make sure that the re is on a level oor .
5. The ame thumb wheel ‘D’ Fig . 2 may be turned up or down to giv e a more realistic e ect.
6. Sometimes the ames appear more real when the ame thumb wheel is turned down.
7. Give the ame generator some time to react to changes you may make on the ame control
knob.

The appliance must be positioned so that the plug is ac cessible.
If the supply cord is damaged it must be replaced b y the manufacturer or service agent or a
similarly quali ed person in order to avoid a hazard .
Keep the supply cord a way from the fron t of the heater .
W ARNING: In order to av oid overheating , do not cover the hea ter . Do not place material or
garments on the heater , or obstruc t the air circulation around the heater .
The heater carries the W arning symbol indicating that it must not be co vered.
General.
Unpack the heater carefully and retain the packaging for possible futur e use, in the even t of
moving or returning the re to your supplier . The Remote C ontrol, ba tteries and lamps are
packed separately in the carton.
The re incorpora tes a ame e ect, which can be used with or without heating, so that the
comforting e ect may be enjoyed at an y time of the year . Using the ame e ec t on its own only
requires little electricity .
Before connecting the heater check that the supply voltage is the same as that stated on the heat er .
Please note: Used in an environment wher e background noise is very low , it may be possible to hear
a sound which is related to the operation of the ame e ect. This is normal and should not be a cause
for concern.
Electrical connection.

This heater must be used on an AC ~ supply only and the voltage marked on the heat er must
correspond to the supply voltage .

Do not put Opti-myst plastic c omponents into a dishwasher .
Only slide out the drawer when the w ater tank needs to be lled or a lamp needs to be changed
otherwise you will inadvertently alter the water level and the ame e ect operation.
Only use ltered tap water in this appliance .
Always ensur e that the appliance is sitting on a lev el oor .
If you intend not using the appliance for longer than 2 w eeks, drain the wa ter from sump and
water tank and dry the sump.
Once installed, never mo ve this appliance or la y on its back, without draining the water from
sump and water tank.
The water tank, sump , sump lid, tank cap and air lters must be cleaned once every two weeks,
particularly in hard water areas.
The appliance should nev er be operated if the lamps are not w orking.
The lamps should be regularly inspected as described under ‘Maintenance’ and ‘C hanging
Lamps’ .
Installation Instructions
The 3-Step can be changed to suit 3 styles, the T ripple (3 side glass), the Duet (2side glass) and the
Relax (front glass only).The product comes already comes as a Relax. To change between models
x the suction cups to the front glass and lift the glass upwards and then down and away fr om the
product see g 3a. Remove the rubber cord on the inside of the side glass at the bottom and t op. Slide
the side metal plate and side glass out together see g 3b. Seperate the side glass and slide it back into
place. Use the larger rubber cor d to x the side glass in place found in the instruction pack . Replace the
front glass by repeating the steps abov e in reverse. U se the suction cups to adjust the side glass so that
you have a both the front and side glass tting correctly .
Before installing this appliance, w e recommend that;
1. Choose which style of 3-step you require and make the requir ed adjustment to the appliance
2. Y ou have your chimney cleaned by a competent chimney sweep .
3. Y ou block o the chimney ue.
This procedure is important for the e cient operation of the heating unit and will also reduce heat loss
up the chimney.
Installation.
Ensure that all packing items are remov ed (read any warning labels car efully).
Retain all packing for possible future use, in the ev ent of moving or returning the appliance to
your supplier .
Under the appliance there are four adjustable supports provided f or levelling, where the base of the
replace opening is raised above the lev el of the hearth.
Y ou are now ready to install the electric re. Make sure the unit is switched OFF .
