1. This elec tric ignition charcoal barbeque and pedestal set ar e intended f or OUTDOOR
USE ONL Y . Do not use indoors!
2. For y our safety and enjoymen t, read all oper ating instructions bef ore using this
appliance.
3. In certain circumst ances electrical appliances may be a health hazar d. Unplug the
appliance befor e cleaning or carrying out maintenance . When the appliance is not in use,
unplug the appliance from the outle t and retr act the power chor d fully .
4. This appliance is no t intended for use b y persons (including children ) with reduced
physical, sensory or men tal capabilities, or lack of e xperience or knowledge, unless
they hav e been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance
by a person r esponsible for their saf ety . Children should be supervised t o ensure that
they do not pla y with the appliance. Unsupervised childr en or pets should not be near
a barbeque while cooking or during warm up or cool down. Ensure childr en or pets ar e
kept a distance w ell away fr om the barbeque whilst it is in use. WARNING! K eep children
and pets a way .
5. Ensure that all elec trical connections are secur e, dry and pr otec ted from moistur e before
operating this appliance . Do not disconnect the appliance with we t hands and do not
disconnect the power cor d with extr eme for ce.
6. Always fully ext end the retr actable pow er cord when in use (leaving the po wer cord fully
or partially re tracted can cause the cor d to overheat & become damaged). T ake car e
not to e xert undue for ce on the cord and its assembly when adjusting the length. If use
of an ext ension power lead cannot be av oided, alwa ys use good quality (low resistance )
leads that ar e suitable for the envir onment wher e cooking is taking place, and use the
shortest length possible t o reduce any pow er lost to the appliance.
7 . Do not use this appliance with a pr ogrammer , timer or any o ther device that swit ches
the appliance on automatically , since a r e risk exists if the appliance is covered or
positioned incorrec tly .
8. If the power cor d is damaged, it must be replaced b y the manufactur er , an authorised
service centr e or similarly qualied persons to av oid a hazard.
9 . Do not immerse the barbeque in w ater ( only remo vable grills, char coal grids and
ro tisserie parts can be immersed).
10 . As charcoal can smoulder f or an extended period of time , take car e when removing ash
after cooking. It is recommended that a non-combustible con tainer (metal or cer amic)
be used to cont ain any ash befor e being doused in wat er and disposed of correctly .
11. This barbeque has been designed to be used either on a FUSIONTM pedest al, a raised
bench or the ground. When using a raised surface (t able etc. ) or the ground, ensur e
the surface is lev el, large enough and str ong enough to support the barbeque and
will withstand temper atures o f 80°C above ambient t emperatur e. When using the
pedestal, ensur e that your barbeque is in a lev el position and the barbeque is positioned
fully on the pedestal.
12. P eople with ammable clothing such as nylon etc . should keep well a way fr om the
barbeque when it is operating.
13. Do not use this appliance for any purpose o ther than what it is intended f or .
14. In case of f at re , remo ve food (if possible ) and allow the r e to burn out naturally .
Most fat will burn o quickly when it contacts the char coal, but r egular cleaning after
use should reduce the build-up o f fat and food r esidues which are combustible and can
result in a f at re . Fat r es can be pre vented with diligence in cleaning f ats and oil
from the hea t shield and bowl around the electrical elemen t and the inner chassis.
Do not allow ash t o build up inside the chassis – clean up after every use . For mor e

15. Ensure that the pr oduct has adequat e clearance fr om combustible materials. The
appliance is designed so that heat will not a ect the pedestal. All combustible materials
must be kept mor e than 250mm from the sides and r ear of the barbeque and more
than 1500mm above the cooking surf ace of the barbeque.
16. Keep your barbeque pr otec ted against str ong wind where possible (the lid can be used
as a rear wind shield b y hanging it from the brack et at the r ear of the appliance). As
charcoal cooking can v ary in time and intensity , it is r ecommended that the barbeque
not be left f or more than 5 minutes a t a time while cooking.
17 . W e recommend that you r egularly maintain your barbeque and keep it in good condition.
This can be achieved by f ollowing the cleaning and maintenance suggestions in this
booklet. F ailure to f ollow these instructions will void y our warranty .
18. This appliance is not suitable f or mounting in a movable vehicle (boat, trailer et c).
19 . Do not use or st ore this appliance in ar eas of high salt conten t (a marine envir onment)
or an area with caustic fumes or liquids ( such as a domestic pool), as these chemicals
can cause the appliance materials t o deterior ate ( and void the warran ty). Regular

can help to r educe this.
20 . Caution: Accessible part s may become hot when used.
21. Char coal and coal produc ts produce carbon monoxide when burned. When the
appliance is being used with solid fuels, alw ays keep the appliance in a well ven tilated
area t o prev ent the gasses produced fr om building up.
22. Do not use solid fuels impr egnated with r e accelerant s or use any other type of
accelerant on this appliance . This appliance is designed for elec trical charcoal ignition
only . Using any accelerant could cause serious pr operty damage or personal injury .
WARNING! Do no t use spirit or petrol f or lighting or re-ligh ting! Do not use relight ers
for lighting or r e-lighting!
23 . During ignition, follo w the recommended char coal area placement guide . Once the
initial batch o f charcoal has ignited, it can be mixed in with fr esh charcoal and spr ead
throughout the char coal chamber . Overloading the char coal chamber can result in
damage to the appliance and f ood – it is recommended that the height o f the charcoal
never passes the t op level of the char coal chamber . For more in formation on char coal

24. The ignition timer is set to 7 minutes . Whilst this in operation, the element will run,
heating and igniting the char coal above it. Once the timer has nished, do not start
again as the heat fr om the element will interf ere with the natur al progr ession of the
charcoal ashing. Note: If the combined hea t from the char coal and element get too
high, an ov er-t emp switch will disable the elemen t (the timer will continue to opera te
until the 7 minutes ha ve elapsed).
25 . Always allow the solid fuel t o burn out naturally a fter cooking. Do not use an y liquids to
douse the charcoal. Do not move the appliance while the coals ar e still burning as hot
ash, coal particles, unburned fuel and hot cooking fat s & oils could spill and accessible
parts may be v ery hot. The barbeque should only be lift ed by the base at either side. If
a pedestal is av ailable, move the barbeque and pedest al separat ely .
26 . Do not use volcanic r ock or any type of non-combustible pr oduct in the charcoal
chamber . If in doubt on what fuels can be used, check the Ever dure By Hest on
Blumenthal websit e or contact the Service Department.
27 . Solid fuels di er widely in burning time, heat, size and combustion. Always be aw are of
your surr oundings and potential r e hazards caused b y sparks or spitting fuels. Nev er
dispose of solid fuels or hot ashes in ar eas where they can be tr odden on or be a re
hazard. Never dispose of unburned solid fuels or ash until it has comple tely extinguished.
The barbeque must be installed on a secur e level base prior to use. W e recommend using
100% natural lump char coal in this appliance (see e verdur ebyheston. com).
28. Always check with your local/ state authorities bef ore using this appliance for an y re
restric tions regar ding the use of an outdoor barbeque ( due to local wea ther conditions).
29 . When using solid fuels, t ake care tha t the surrounding envir onment is clear of
combustible materials . Do not cook under overhanging buildings or close br anches
of tr ees. Not e that solid fuels will produce v arying amounts of smoke – tak e this into
consideration when se tting up the barbeque.
