64 Guidelines for safe and efficient use
Vehicles Equipped with an Air Bag
An air bag inflates with great force. Do not place
objects, including either installed or portable wireless
equipment, in the area over the air bag or in the air
bag deployment area. If in-vehicle wireless equipment
is improperly installed and the air bag inflates,
serious injury could result.
ELECTRONIC DEVICES
Most modern electronic equipment is shielded from
RF signals. However, certain electronic equipment
may not be shielded against the RF signals from your
mobile phone, therefore:
Do not use your mobile phone near medical
equipment without requesting permission.
Mobile phones may affect the operation of some
implanted cardiac pacemakers and other medically
implanted equipment. Pacemaker patients should be
aware that the use of a mobile phone very close to
a pacemaker might cause the device to malfunction.
Avoid placing the mobile phone over the pacemaker,
e.g. in your breast pocket. When using the mobile
phone, place it at the ear opposite the pacemaker.
If a minimum distance of 15 cm (6’’ inches) is kept
between the mobile phone and the pacemaker,
the risk of interference is limited. If you have any
reason to suspect that interference is taking place,
immediately turn off your mobile phone. Contact
your cardiologist for more information.
Some hearing aids might be disturbed by mobile
phones. In the event of such disturbance, you may
want to contact your local Certified Call Centre to
discuss alternatives.
If you use any other personal medical device,
consult the manufacturer of your device to determine
if it is adequately shielded from external RF energy.
Turn your mobile phone off in any facility where
posted notices so require.
AIRCRAFT
Turn off your mobile phone before boarding any
aircraft.
To prevent interference with communication systems,
you must not use your mobile phone while the plane
is in the air.
Do not use it on the ground without permission from
the crew.
