15.8.4 Adding custom streams
The Eminent Third Party Apps has an ‘Add a Stream’ option which allows you to
quickly add suited Video/Audio streams or URLS, and turn them into ‘Apps’ which can
easily be added to your App List.
If you want to add a stream, you need to make sure a valid URL-Address has been
used. If not, the App will not function. An invalid stream will result in a blue screen with
an error notification. (URL’s are not a simple Web-Address. An URL is an exact
address which is used by the specific website).
Retrieving the correct stream (Address) requires some internet streaming knowledge.
If you experience any issues, or you do not know how to retrieve the correct URL, you
can refer to the Eminent Open Source forum for possible solutions or support from
other users.
15.8.5 Using a .PLS file to add a radio stream
There are countless sources where streams can be found. For Example: By using
‘Shoutcast’. Shoutcast uses so called .PLS files. By editing .PLS files, valid stream
addresses and URL’s can be retrieved. We will explain how to retrieve a stream
address using .PLS files which can be found using Shoutcast and how to add this
stream address to your own stream.
1. Open your computer’s web browser (For example: Internet Explorer, Mozilla
Firefox,Safari ).
