Image 12. Air currents can activate the smoke alarm
4. Do not mount the smoke detector in very humid areas, near bathrooms or
showers. Mount the smoke detectors at least 3 meters away from the bathroom.
5. Do not mount the smoke detector in cold or hot areas. Operating temperature of
the smoke detector is 4°C to 38°C.
6. Do not mount the smoke detector in a dusty or dirty area. Dust and/or dirt can
build up on the sensor, which may cause false alarms.
7. Do not mount the smoke detector near a ventilation system, air conditioning,
heating installation or fans.
8. Do not mount the smoke detector in dead air spaces, for example at the top of a
peaked roof, in corners between ceilings and walls.
9. Do not mount the smoke detector in insect-infested areas; insects may enter the
detector’s sensor chamber causing false alarms. If a bug is causing a false
alarm, remove it first before mounting the smoke sensor back again.
10. Do not mount the smoke detector near fluorescent lights, the electrical ‘noise’
from these lights may cause false alarms. Keep a distance of at least 1.5m to
mount the smoke detector.
Important!
Do not remove the battery to stop a false alarm. Asure that the ventilation of the room
is sufficient to discharge smoke and/or dust. The alarm will stop automatically when
the smoke is gone. If the false alarms persist, try to clean the smoke detector first.
Do not stand too close to the smoke detector when the alarm is fired. The sound of the
siren, may damage your hearing.
