2.1 Functions and features
The Eminent 4 Port PCI Card USB 2.0 enables you to easily extend your computer
with 4 extra USB 2.0 ports. USB 2.0 is the new USB standard and allows high data
transfer speeds. USB 2.0 allows you to connect devices which need a high data
transfer speed, for example an external hard disk or a USB scanner.
2.2 Packing contents
The following parts need to be present in the packing:
• EM1105, 4 Port PCI Card USB 2.0.
• Manual.
3.0 Installation procedure
Follow the steps below to install the PCI card on your pc.
3.1 PCI card installation
1. Unplug the power cable of your computer.
2. Open the case of your computer.
3. Find an unused PCI slot (the short, white connectors on the motherboard).
4. Insert the card firmly and straight into the PCI slot. Do not insert the card in the
first or last PCI slot, as this could result in hardware conflicts.
5. Attach the card to your PC using the provided screw.
6. Close the computer’s casing.
7. Reconnect the cabling.
8. Start your computer.
3.2 Installing the drivers
3.2.1 Windows 98SE and ME
1. Download the EM1105 driver (www.eminent-online.com).
2. Double-click the program file to start the setup program.
3. Click ‘Next’.
4. The driver of the PCI card will now be installed.
5. Restart your computer after installing the driver.
6. Congratulations! You have now properly installed the PCI card.
