INSTALLATION
SAFETY HEAT EXCHANGER
The boiler is equipped with a safety heat exchanger to be connected to a thermal discharge safety valve, which, in the
event of a power failure or circulator shut-down, works as a means of protection for the boiler to prevent overheating.
It is important to assemble the thermal discharge safety valve (type Watts STS20) so that, in normal operation, the
safety heat exchanger is connected to the water mains under pressure without any water supply shut-off device
(shutters, and valves). The discharge side must flow without obstruction in the drain or discharge pipe.
The cold water allowed temperature for the heat exchanger must be at least 10±5°C at a maximum pressure of 1.5
bar.
Note. The thermal discharge valve must be installed before loading or turning on the system.
SAFETY VALVE OPERATION:
Regardless of pressure, the valve opens when the primary circuit temperature reaches about 95°C. The opening of the
valve causes a constant water discharge that prevents the temperature from reaching 110°C.
Note: we recommend that you test the safety valve, once installed, by making the boiler reach the valve opening
temperature.
It is strictly forbidden to produce domestic hot water through the safety heat exchanger. The heat exchanger must be
permanently connected to a thermal safety valve and must be capable of intervening efficiently in case of emergency
to cool down the boiler.
