Toasting
The darkness signifi cantly depends on the type, the freshness, and the ingredients in the bread
used. For example, increased protein and sugar content and/or calcium result in increased
darkening while fats and preservatives reduce the darkening. Depending on your personal taste
and bread, you should fi rst start with a low darkness setting and then gradually increase it until
you have reached the darkness you desire.
1. Insert the bread in the toasting compartments. Do not use excessively thick slices. The bread
may not jam in the slot.
2. Set the desired darkness with the arrow buttons. The darkness
can be set to 6 levels from LIGHT = very lightly toasted/light
brown and DARK = very thoroughly toasted/very dark brown.
The respective light will indicate the degree of roasting selected.
❐ The highest darkness level (DARK) is intended only for dark bread types! With
conventional white wheat toast or thick slices, this may blacken the toast and
produce smoke. In such a case, immediately interrupt the toasting process using the
CANCEL button.
Toasting only one slice will brown more intensely than when two slices are toasted
with the same darkness.
If the device is used for a prolonged period of time, any slices inserted later on will be
darker than the fi rst slices at the same darkness.
3. Push the operating lever down until it locks into place. The bread will be lowered and cen-
tred. The device will turn on and the light over the CANCEL button is on. After the toast-
ing process has been completed, the bread and the operating level will be lifted. The light of
the CANCEL button will turn off and the device will turn off.
❐ If something impairs the operation of the unit, it will automatically deactivate.
Disconnect the mains plug from the socket and allow the unit to cool off. Then
remove anything jammed in the toasting compartment by moving the operating
lever up and down a few times, then remove the object.
❐ Do not tamper by inserting knives, forks or other metallic objects in the toasting
compartments!
4. Carefully remove the bread from the toasting compartments. In the process, do not touch
the hot metallic surfaces alongside the toast slots. Attention! This represents a burn
hazard!
With small bread slices, the operating lever can also be used to lift out the toast. Push
the lever all the way up to facilitate removing the bread slices.
Interrupting the Toasting Process
Press the CANCEL button to interrupt the toasting process early. The light(s) will deactivate
and the bread will pop up.
