5.3 Cleaning the dual motor protection filter
It is best to check/clean the dual motor protection filter each time you
clean the dust container and cyclone unit, Chapter 5.2, "Cleaning the
dust container and cyclone unit".
Clean the dual motor protection filter at the latest every 36 months.
1. Release the retaining clip on the cover as shown (Fig. 13/A) and open
the cover.
2. Remove the dual motor protection filter (Fig. 13/B).
3. Hold the dual motor protection filter low over a dustbin. Separate the fil-
ter elements from one another (Fig. 13/C). Remove larger agglomera-
tions of dirt by hand.
4. If the filter elements are still dirty, thoroughly rinse them by hand until
all dirt is gone (Fig. 14/A).
5. If one of the filter elements is damaged, replace it with a new one
(Chapter 6.2, "Spare parts and accessories").
6. Put the completely dry filter elements back together again.
7. Put the dual motor protection filter back onto the cyclone unit (Fig. 14/
B).
8. Put the cover back on. Lock the cover by pushing it firmly onto the cy-
clone unit (Fig. 14/C) until the retaining clip clicks into place.

rinse it by hand until all dirt is gone.
7. If the exhaust filter is damaged or deformed, replace it (ordering infor-
mation Chapter 6.2, "Spare parts and accessories").
8. Place the clean/new exhaust filter back into its receptacle (Fig. 16/A).

ATTENTION:
The filter elements are washable, but may not be cleaned in dishwash-
ers or washing-machines. Also, do not use detergents or brushes with
hard bristles to clean them. Let the filters dry for approx 24 hours at
room temperature after cleaning. Only put them back into the appliance
when they are completely dry.
