5.1 Emptying the dust container
It is best to empty the dust container after each vacuuming session.
Empty the dust container at the latest when the “MAX” mark (Fig. 9/B1)
has been reached, if storing it for a long period, or when sending it.
1. Switch off the appliance, Chapter 4.3, "Switching off".
2. Press the release button for the dust container (Fig. 9/A1) and remove
the dust container from its console.
3. Empty the dust container by holding it low over a dustbin and only then
press the release button (Fig. 9/B).
4. If the dust container and cyclone unit are still dirty after being emptied,
proceed as described in Chapter 5.2, "Cleaning the dust container
and cyclone unit".
5. Otherwise put the bottom on and put the dust container back into its
receptacle. Check that it is securely fitted.
5.2 Cleaning the dust container and cyclone unit
1. Unlock the cyclone unit by turning it in the opposite direction to the dust
container (Fig. 10/A). The arrow on the dust container moves in the
“UNLOCK” direction.
2. Take the cyclone unit up out of the dust container (Fig. 10/B).
3. If necessary, separate the lower part of the cyclone unit from the upper
part by turning the two in opposite directions (Fig. 10/C).
4. Remove any residual dust still clinging to the dust container and
cyclone unit using a dry cloth or a soft brush, e.g. the supplied furniture
brush.
5. If you dismantled the two parts of the cyclone unit, put them back
together. Connect both parts together by turning them towards one
another.
6. Place the cyclone unit on the dust container again. Make sure that the
arrow on the dust container and the fitting mark of the cyclone unit are
opposite one another. Connect both parts by turning them towards one
another. The arrow on the dust container moves in the “LOCK”
direction.
5.3 Cleaning the dual motor protection filter
It is best to check/clean the dual motor protection filter each time you
clean the dust container and cyclone unit, Chapter 5.2, "Cleaning the
dust container and cyclone unit".
Clean the dual motor protection filter at the latest when the cleaning
indicator (Fig. 11/A1) lights up.
1. Release the retaining clip on the cover as shown (Fig. 11/B) and open
the cover.
2. Remove the dual motor protection filter (Fig. 11/C).
3. Hold the dual motor protection filter low over a dustbin. Separate the
filter elements from one another (Fig. 12/A). Remove larger
agglomerations of dirt by hand.
4. If the filter elements are still dirty, thoroughly rinse them by hand until
all dirt is gone.
5. If one of the filter elements is damaged, replace it with a new one
(Chapter 5.5, "Spare parts and accessories").
6. Put the completely dry filter elements back together again.
7. Put the dual motor protection filter back onto the cyclone unit (Fig. 12/
B).
8. Put the cover back on. Lock the cover by pushing it firmly onto the
cyclone unit (Fig. 12/C) until the retaining clip clicks into place.
ATTENTION:
Switch off the appliance before emptying the dust container. This will
prevent dust from damaging the appliance.

NOTE:
You can dispose of the contents of the dust container with your regular
domestic waste as long as it does not contain any substances not
permitted in domestic waste.
NOTE:
If the dust container can no longer be completely cleaned by simply
opening the bottom, the cyclone unit has to be removed.

ATTENTION:
The filter elements are washable, but may not be cleaned in
dishwashers or washing-machines. Also, do not use detergents or
brushes with hard bristles to clean the filters. Let the filters dry for approx
24 hours at room temperature after cleaning. Only put them back into
the appliance when they are completely dry.
