5 Troubleshooting
Before contacting your authorised Royal dealer, service partner or appliance market, first check if
you can solve the problem on your own by proceeding according to the following‚table.
WARNING:
Danger of injury! Never use a defective appliance. Always switch off the appliance and disconnect
it from the mains before starting troubleshooting ZChapter 3.2, "Switching off and retracting
power cord".
Problem Possible cause Solution
The appliance will
not start.
Mains plug is not connected. Insert the plug into a mains socket and
switch on the appliance. ZChapter 3.1,
"Vacuum cleaning".
Socket does not carry current. Test the vacuum cleaner on another socket
that you are sure is carrying current.
The power cord is damaged. Have the cord replaced by the Royal Appli-
ance Customer Service, address ZPage 35,
"Warranty".
The vacuum
cleaner suddenly
stops.
The overheating protection has
tripped, possibly due to blocked
suction channels, filters, or simi-
lar.
Switch off the vacuum cleaner and pull the
plug from the mains socket. Eliminate the
cause of overheating (e.g. blocked suction
channels, filters, etc.). Wait for about
45 minutes. After the appliance has cooled
off, you may switch it on again.
The red warning-
light is on.
The dust container is full. Empty/clean the dust container.
Nozzle, telescopic tube or suction
hose are clogged.
Remove the obstacle. If necessary, use a
long wooden stick (e.g. a broomstick) to do
this.
The filter is dirty. Change/clean the respective filter ZChapter
4.5, "Cleaning the dual motor protection fil-
ter" or ZChapter 4.4, "Hygienic exhaust fil-
ter".
The cleaning re-
sults are unsatis-
factory in spite of
the appliance
working correctly.
The nozzle you are using does
not suit the flooring.
Change nozzles ZChapter 2.3, "Using fur-
ther nozzles (accessories)".
The "carpet/hard floor" selector is
in the wrong position for the par-
ticular type of floor.
Set the "carpet/hard floor" selector to the
correct position for the type of floor,
ZChapter 3.1, "Vacuum cleaning", step 4.
The appliance's
running-sound is
unusually loud.
Sucked-in objects are obstructing
the air stream.
Remove the objects. If necessary, use a
long wooden stick (e.g. a broomstick) to do
this.
