Glossary of terms
Control Module: The brain of your system. Usually hidden under -
neath the dash area of the vehicle. It houses the microprocessor
which monitors your vehicle and controls all of the alarm s functions.
Failsafe
®
Starter Kill (if equipped) : An automatic switch controlled by
the security system which prevent s the vehicle s st arter from crank -
ing whenever the system is armed. The vehicle is never prevented
from cranking when the system is disarmed, in Valet
fi
Mode, or
should the st arter kill switch it self fail. Y our system is ready for this
feature, however inst allation of this feature may require additional
labor .
Input: Any physical connection to the security system. An input can
be provided through a sensor, pinswitch or by existing systems in the
vehicle, such as ignition or courtesy light s.
LED: The LED indicates the st atus of your system. It is also used to
report triggers and fault s in the system or sensors.
Valet Switch: A small push-button switch mounted somewhere in
the vehicle. The switch is used to override the alarm when a trans -
mitter is lost or damaged, or to put it into V alet Mode.
Warn Away Response: Light imp act s to the vehicle generate the
W arn A way Response, which consists of several seconds of siren
chirp s and flashing p arking light s.
Zone: A zone is a sep arate input that the alarm can recognize as
unique. Each input to the system is connected to a p articular zone.
Of ten, two or more input s may share the same zone such as hood
and trunk if connected.
