Replacing the Saw Blade (fi g. 4, 5)
1. Engage the blade lock button (o) and unscrew
the blade camping screw (p) by turning
clockwise using the hex key supplied with
the tool.
2. Retract the lower blade guard (f) using the lever
(g) and replace the blade. Reinstall the washers
(q) in the correct position.
3. Check the direction of rotation of the blade.
4. Thread on the blade clamping screw (p) by
hand to hold the washer in position.
5. Turn counterclockwise.
6. Press the blade lock button (o) while turning the
spindle until the blade stops rotating.
7. Tighten the blade clamping screw firmly using
the hex key.
PRIOR TO OPERATION
Make sure your battery pack is (fully) charged.
Make sure the guards have been mounted
correctly. The saw blade guard must be in
closed position.
Make sure the saw blade rotates in the direction
of the arrow on the blade.
Do not use excessively worn saw blades.

Proper Hand Position (fi g. 1, 7)

proper hand position as shown.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of
serious personal injury, ALWAYS hold
securely in anticipation of a sudden
reaction.
Proper hand position requires one hand on the front
handle (c), with the other hand on the main handle
(s).
Switching On and Off (fi g. 1)
For safety reasons the on/off switch (a) is equipped
with a lock-off button (b).
1. Press the lock-off button (b) to unlock the tool.
2. To run the tool, press the on/off switch (a). As
soon as the on/off switch is released the lockoff
switch is automatically activated to prevent
unintended starting of the machine.
WARNING: Do not switch the tool on
or off when the saw blade touches the
workpiece or other materials.
Guiding the Tool
(fi g. 6)
1. Clamp the workpiece as close to the cutting
line as possible. Always attempt to clamp the
workpiece in a way to minimize the number of
teeth cutting through the material.
For optimum results, clamp the workpiece
bottom up.
2. Hold the tool as described under Proper Hand
Postion. Keep the shoe (h) firmly against the
workpiece. Allow the blade to cut freely. Do not
force. If the workpiece starts vibrating you are
forcing the cutting action and you should slow
down the feed rate.
3. Use the kerf indicator (e) to follow the line drawn
on the workpiece. The kerf indicator lines up
with the left (outer) side of the saw blade.
Use the sight window (d) to view the
cutting action.
MAINTENANCE
Your DEWALT power tool has been designed to
operate over a long period of time with a minimum
of maintenance. Continuous satisfactory operation
depends upon proper tool care and regular cleaning.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of
serious personal injury, turn tool
off and disconnect battery pack
before making any adjustments or
removing/installing attachments or
accessories. An accidental start-up
can cause injury.
The charger is not serviceable. There are no
serviceable parts inside the charger.
