Fitting a Baseplate Extension
(Option) (fi g. 1, 9)
When routing with large diameter cutters, it is
recommended to fit the baseplate extension
(DE6285) (w) for secure handling.
1. FIt the baseplate extension to the free end of
the guide rods (e).
2. Guide the tool with one hand on the knob and
the other on the opposite grip (i).
Fitting a Guide Bush (fi g. 1, 10)
Together with a template, guide bushes play a
valuable part in cutting and shaping to a pattern.
The guide brush illustrated is available as an option.
1. Fit the guide bush (r) to the router base (q) as
shown.
Adjusting Templates to Guide
Brushes (fi g. 11, 12)
Templates must be manufactured in accordance
with the diameter of the guide brush.
1. When using positive templates as in figure 11,
the template must be made smaller by half the
difference between the diameters of the guide
brush and the cutter.
2. When using negative templates as in figure 12,
the template must be made larger by half the
difference between the diameters of the guide
brush and the cutter.
Prior to Operation
1. Check that the cutter is correctly installed in the
collet.
2. Set the cutting depth.
3. Connect a dust extractor.
4. Make sure the plunge limiter is always locked
before switching on.

Proper Hand Position (fi g. 15)

proper hand position as shown.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of
serious personal injury, ALWAYS hold
securely in anticipation of a sudden
reaction.
Proper hand position requires each hand on the
handles (i).
Feed direction (fi g. 13)
1. Always feed the workpiece against the rotating
cutter as shown in figure 13.
Switching On and Off (fi g. 1)
1. On: pull the switch (a) up.
2. Off: press the switch (a) down.
WARNING: Loosen the plunge limiter
and allow the router carriage to regain
its rest position before switching off.
Using Guide Bushes (fi g. 10)
1. Secure the template to the workpiece using end
clamps.
2. Select and install an appropriate guide bush.
3. Subtract the diameter of the cutter from the
outside diameter of the guide bush and divide by
2. This is the difference between the template
and the workpiece.
WARNING: If the workpiece is not thick
enough, place it on a piece of waste
wood.
WARNING: Make shallow cuts only!
Use cutters with a max. diameter of 40
mm.
Routing with Pilot Cutters
Where a parallel guide or guide bush are
inappropriate, it is possible to use pilot cutters for
cutting shaped edges.
Consult your dealer for further information on the
appropriate accessories.
These include collets (6–12.7mm) , a height
adjusting tool and router table for use in an inverted
position, finger jointing tools for dovetail and finger
