Attaching the Side Handle (fi g. 5)
WARNING: Before using the tool,
check that the handle is tightened
securely.
WARNING: The side handle should
always be used to maintain control of
the tool at all times.
For grinding, screw the side handle (e) tightly into
one of the holes (o) on either side of the gear case
(fig. 5).
For cutting, screw the side handle (e) tightly into the
top hole (p) or into one of the holes (q) on either side
of the gear case (fig. 5).
Mounting and Removing the Guard
(fi g. 2)
WARNING: To reduce the risk
of serious personal injury, turn
tool off and disconnect tool from
power source before making any
adjustments or removing/installing
attachments or accessories. Before
reconnecting the tool, depress and
release the trigger switch to ensure that
the tool is off. An accidental start-up can
cause injury.
1. Place the angle grinder on a table, spindle up.
2. Release the clamping lock (f) and hold the
guard (d) over the tool as shown.
3. Align the lugs (g) with the notches (h).
4. Press the guard down and rotate it to the
required position.
5. If required, increase the clamping force by
tightening the screw (i).
6. Tighten the clamping lock.
7. To remove the guard, release the clamping lock.
WARNING: Never use the tool without
the guard in place.
NOTE: Please refer to the Grinding Accessory
Chart at the end of this section to show other
accessories that can be used with these grinders.
Fitting and Removing a Grinding Disc
(fi g. 1, 3, 4)
WARNING: Do not use a damaged
disc.
1. Place the tool on a table, guard up.
2. Fit the inner flange (j) correctly onto the spindle
(k) (fig. 3).
3. Place the disc (l) on the flange (j). When fitting
a disc with a raised centre, make sure that the
raised centre (m) is facing the flange (j).
4. Screw the outer flange (n) onto the spindle (k)
(fig. 4). The ring on the flange (n) must face
towards the disc when fitting a grinding disc.
5. Press the spindle lock (c) and rotate the spindle
(k) until it locks in position.
6. Tighten the flange (n) with the two-pin spanner
supplied.
7. Release the spindle lock.
8. To remove the disc, loosen the flange (n) with
the two-pin spanner.
Mounting Wire Brushes And Wire
Wheels (fi g. 1)
Wire cup brushes or wire wheels install directly on
the threaded spindle without the use of flanges.
Use only wire brushes or wheels provided with
M14 threaded hub. These accessories are available
at extra cost from your local dealer or authorised
service agent.
NOTE: The type 27 guard is required when using
wire brushes or wheels.
CAUTION: To reduce the risk of
personal injury wear work gloves when
handling wire brushes and wheels. They
can become sharp.
CAUTION: To reduce the risk of
damage to the tool, wheel or brush
must not touch when mounted or while
use.
MOUNTING WIRE CUP BRUSH OR WHEEL
1. Place the tool on a table, guard up.
2. Thread the wheel or brush on the spindle by
hand.
3. Depress the spindle lock button (c) and use a
wrench on the hub of the wire wheel or brush to
tighten it.
4. To remove the brush or wheel, reverse the
above procedure.
NOTICE: To reduce the risk of damage
to the tool seat the wheel hub before
turning the tool on.
Prior to Operation
Install the guard and appropriate disc or wheel.
Do not use excessively worn discs or wheels.
