In addition to the c areful atten tion devoted to qua lity standar ds
in the m anufacture of your video product, safety is a ma jor factor
in the d esign of every instr ument. However, sa fety is y our
responsibility , too. T his sheet lists important inform ation that will
help to assure you r enjoyment and pr oper use of the v ideo
product and accessor y equipmen t. Please read them carefully
before operation and using your video product.
CAUTION
Installation
Read and Follow Instructions- All the sa fety and op eration instructions
should be read be fore the vid eo product i s operated. Follow all op erating
instructions.
Retain Instructions- The safety and o perating instructions sho uld be retained
for fu ture reference.
Heed all Warnings-Comply with all warnings on the vide o product an d in the
operating ins tructions.
Polarization- This video product is equipped with a polarized alternating -
current line plug . This plug will fit into the po wer outlet, try reversing the
plug. If the plug still fa ils to fit, contact your electrician to replace your
obsolete outl et. T o prev ent electric shock, do no t use this p olarized plug
with a n extension cord, receptacle, or other out let unless t he blades c an be
fully i nserted without blad e exposure. If you need an ex tension cord, use a
polarized cord .
Power Sources- This vid eo product s hould be op erated only from t he type
of pow er source in dicated on th e marking l abel. If you are n ot sure of the
type o f power sup ply to your home, consult your video dealer or local pow er
company. F or vid eo products intended to operate from battery power, or
other sources, refer to the op erating instructions.
Overloading- Do not over load wall ou tlets or exte nsion cords as this can
result in a risk of fire or ele ctric shock. Overloaded AC outlets, extension
cords, frayed power cords, damaged or cracked wire insulation, a nd
broken plugs are d angerous, They m ay result in a shock or fire h azard.
Periodically examine the cord, and i f its appearance indicated dam age or
deteriorated insulation, have it replaced by your service technician.
Power-Cord Protection- Power-supply c ords should be routed s o that they
are no t likely to be w alked on or pinched by items placed upon or ag ainst
them, paying particular att ention to co rds at plugs, convenience receptacles,
and th e point whe re they exit from the video p roduct.
Venti lation- Slots and openings in the case are p rovided for ve ntilation to
ensure reliable operation of the v ideo product and to prot ect it from
overheating. These openings mu st not the blocked or covered. The openings
should never be bl ocked by pl acing the v ideo product on a bed, sofa, rug, o r
heat r egister. This video product should not be placed in a built-in installation
such as a book case or rack, un less proper ventilation is provided or the
video product manufacturer's in structions have be en followed.
Attachments- Do not use attachments u nless recommended by the vide o
product man ufacturer as they may c ause hazards.
Water and Moisture- do not use thi s video prod uct near wa ter for exam ple,
near a bath tub, wash b owl, kitchen sink or lau ndry tub, in a wet base ment,
or nea r a s wimming pool and the li ke. Caution: Maintain electrical safety .
Powerline op erated equipment or accessories connected to this unit
should bear safety certification mark on the accessory itself an d should no t
be mo dified so as to de feat the safe ty features. This will help av oid any

danger and should not be modified so as to defeat the sa fety fe atures. This
will he lp avoid any potential haza rd from electrical shock or fire. If in d oubt,
contact qualified service pe rsonnel.
Accessories- D o not place this v ideo product on an unstable cart, stand ,
tripod, bracket, or table. The vi deo product may fa ll, causing s erious injury
to a child o r adult as well a s serious dam age to the video pr oduct. Use this
video product only w ith a cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table recommended
by the manufacturer's or sold with the vi deo product. Any mounting of the
product should follow the manufacturer's in structions and use of a m ounting
accessory reco mmended by the manufacturer.
A vid eo pro duct and car t combination should be mo ved with car e. Qui ck
stops, excessive force, an d uneven sur faces may c ause the vid eo product
and ca rt combination to overturn.

This re minder is pro vided to call the C ATV system installer's attention t o
Section 820-40 of the NEC which provides guid elines for pr oper grounding
and, in particular, s pecifies that the cab le ground sha ll be connected to the
grounding sys tem of the building, as close to the po int of cable entry as
practical.
Outdoor Antenna Gro unding- If an outside antenna or cab le system is
connected to the vi deo product, be sure the antenna or cable sys tem is
grounded so as to provide some protection ag ainst voltage surges and b uilt-
up sta tic charges. S ection 810 o f the National Electrical C ode, ANSI/NFPA
No.70-1984 (S ection 54 of Canadian Ele ctrical Code, Part1) provides
information w ith respect to proper grounding of the mast an d supporting
structure, gro unding of the lead-in wire to an antenna-discharge uni t,
connection to grounding ele ctrodes, and re quirements for the grounding
electrode.
Power Lines-An outside an tenna system should not be located in the vicinity
of ove rhead power lines, other electric light o r power circu its, or where it can
fall int o such power lines or circuits. W hen installing an outside a ntenna
system, extreme care s hould be tak en to keep from t ouching or ap proaching
such p ower lines o r circuits, as contact with them m ight be fatal. Installing an
outdoor antenna can b e hazardous and should b e left to a professional
antenna installer.
Use
Cleaning- Unp lug this vide o product fro m the wall outlet b efore cleaning.Do
not us e liquid clea ners or aero sol cleaners. Use a damp cloth for cle aning.
Objects that may tou ch dangerous voltage points or "short-out" parts could
result in a fire or electric shock. Never spill l iquid of any kind on the video
product.
Lightning-For added protection for this v ideo product during a ligh tning storm,
or whe n it i s left unattended and unus ed for long periods of tim e, unplug it
from t he wall outle t and disconnect the antenna or cab le system. T his wi ll
prevent damage to the video product due to lightning and power line s urges.
Service
Servicing-Do n ot attempt to service this video p roduct yourself, as opening
or rem oving covers may expose you to dangerous voltage o r other haza rds.
Refer all servicing to qualified s ervice personnel.
Conditions req uiring service-unplug this video p roduct from t he wall outle t,
refer s ervicing to qua lified service personnel under the following cond itions:
A. Wh en the power-supply cord o r plug is damaged.
B. If liquid has been sp illed, or objec ts have falle n into the vi deo product.
C. If the vi deo product has been exp osed to rain or water.
D. If the vi deo does not operate normally by following the instruction ma nual..
Adjust only those controls that a re covered b y operating i nstructions.
Improper ad justment of o ther controls may result i n damage an d will
often require extensive wo rk by a qualified t echnician to restore the
video product to its normal operation.
E. If the vi deo product has been dro pped or cabin et has been damaged.
F. When the vi deo product exhibits a dist inct change i n perf ormance-this
indicates a need for service.
Replacement P arts-When replacement parts are re quired, have the service
technician ver ify that the replacements he uses hav e the same safety
characteristics as the origi nal parts. Us e of replacements specified by the
video product manufacturer can prevent fire, electric shock, or oth er hazards.
Safety Check-Upon completion of any s ervice or rep airs to this video p roduct,
ask th e service tec hnician to per form safety c hecks recommended by the
manufacturer t o determine that the vide o product is in saf e operating
condition.
Wall or Ceiling M ounting- The product should be mo unted to a wall or ceilin g
only a s recommended by the m anufacturer.
Heat-The prod uct should b e situated aw ay from heat sources such as
radiators, hea t registers, s toves, or oth er products (including amplifiers)
that p roducts heat.
