Cleaning the water tank

1. Clean the water tank (A18) regularly (about once a month

and whenever you replace the water softener lter (C3) (if

provided) with a damp cloth and a little mild washing up

liquid.

2. Remove the lter (if present) and rinse with running water.

3. Replace the lter (if provided), ll the tank with fresh

water and replace the tank.

4. (Models with water softener lter only) Deliver about

100ml of hot water to reactivate the lter.

Cleaning the coee spouts

1. Clean the coee spouts regularly with a sponge or cloth

(g. 22).

2. Check the holes in the coee spouts are not blocked. If nec-

essary, remove coee deposits with a toothpick (g. 22).

Cleaning the pre-ground coee funnel

Check regularly (about once a month ) that the pre-ground

coee funnel (A4) is not blocked. If necessary, remove coee

deposits with the brush (C2) supplied.

Cleaning the infuser

The infuser (A17) must be cleaned at least once a month.

Important!

The infuser may not be extracted when the machine is on.

1. Make sure the machine is correctly turned o (see “Turning

o”, page 10).

2. Open the infuser door (g. 23) on the right side of the

appliance.

3. Press the two red release buttons inwards and at the same

time pull the infuser outwards (g. 24).

4. Soak the infuser in water for about 5 minutes, then rinse

under the tap.

Important!

RINSE WITH WATER ONLY

NO WASHING UP LIQUID  NO DISH WASHER

Clean the infuser without using washing up liquid as it

could be damaged.

5. Use the brush (C2) to remove any coee residues left in the

infuser housing, visible through the infuser door.

6. After cleaning, replace the infuser by sliding it onto the

internal support (g. 25), then push the PUSH symbol fully

in until it clicks into place.

Please note!

If the infuser is dicult to insert, before insertion, adapt it to the

right size by pressing the two levers shown in g. 26.

7. Once inserted, make sure the two red buttons have

snapped out (g. 27).

8. Close the infuser door.

DESCALING

Descale the appliance when the light (B7) ashes.

Important!

• Descaler contains acids which may irritate the skin and

eyes. It is vital to respect the manufacturer’s safety warn-

ings given on the descaler pack and the warnings relating

to the procedure to follow in the event of contact with the

skin and eyes.

• You should use De’Longhi descaler only. Using unsuitable

descaler and/or performing descaling incorrectly may re-

sult in faults not covered by the manufacturer’s guarantee.

1. With the appliance o (standby), but the main switch

pressed (g. 4);

2. Press and hold the icon (B11) until the light (B7)

comes on.

3. Empty the water tank (A18) completely and remove the

water softener lter (if present). Empty the drip tray (g.

18) and grounds container, then put them back in the

appliance.

4. Pour the descaler into the tank up to level A (corresponding

to a 100 ml pack) marked on the back of the tank (g. 28),

then add water (1 litre) up to level B (g. 28) and put the

water tank back.

5. Place an empty container with a minimum capacity of 2

litres under the hot water spout (g. 3).

Important! Danger of burns

Hot water containing acid ows out of the hot water spout.

Avoid contact with splashes of water.

6. Press the icon (B12) to conrm that you have added

the solution.

7. The icon ashes to indicate the hot water/steam dial

(B1) must be turned to the I position. As soon as the

dial has been turned, the descale programme starts and

the descaler liquid comes out of the water spout.

8. The descale programme automatically performs a series of

rinses and pauses to remove limescale deposits from inside

the machine.

After about 30 minutes, descaling stops: the

icon ashes.

Turn the hot water/steam dial

to the O position: and

icons ashes on the touch screen. .

9. The appliance is now ready for rinsing through with clean

water. Extract the water tank (A18), empty, rinse under

running water, ll with clean water up to the MAX level,

insert the lter (if removed previously) and put the water

tank back in the machine.
