Starting-up the unit
NON-STICK COATING
Lightly grease the baking surfaces before the unit is used for the fi rst time.
Use the appliance for about 10 minutes with the toasting surfaces closed (see
„Using the unit“). Then wipe it down with a damp cloth.
Do not eat the fi rst waffl es.
Using the unit
1. Please unwind the lead completely.
2. Insert the plug in a duly installed 230V/50Hz protective contact socket. The
red control lamp lights up.
3. Set the temperature control to the desired level (for heating usually level 5).
4. Keep the baking surfaces closed while heating. If the control lamp goes off
the baking temperature has been reached.
5. Open the lid and pour the dough in the middle of the baking surface. To
obtain even waffl es, spread the dough. Please put in only enough dough so
that the lower baking surface is covered. The dough should be fi lled in quickly
as otherwise the wafers will not brown evenly.
6. Close the lid gently and keep it pressed together for a short time. The control
lamp lights up again after a few seconds.
7. The desired baking temperature can be set with the selector. When the waf-
es are dark enough, turn the selector to the lowest level.
8. When the control lamp goes off again the baking process is fi nished (It can
vary depending on the thickness and consistency of the waffl es). The baking
time depends on your individual taste. Normal browning is achieved however
when the control lamp goes off again.
9. Open the lid and remove the waffl es with a wooden fork or a similar tool.
Do not use sharp objects to avoid ruining the coating of the baking surface.
Serve the waffl es on a tray or in a disk and coat with some powdered sugar.
10. Lightly grease the baking surfaces again as required after each baking pro-
cess.
11. The baking surfaces must always be kept closed during pauses in the baking.
Recipe for waffl es
5 egg yolks, 5 dessertspoons of hot water, 100 g sugar and 1 grated lemon peel
should be mixed together until frothy and then a mixture of 1/2 teaspoon baking
powder and 150 g fl our should be stirred in. Beat the 5 egg whites stiff and fold
them into the batter.
You can fi nd further recipes in our recipe books or else you can use a ready-
made baking mix.
