Coal
When burning bituminous coal a little extra care is needed. Please
take no te of the section ‘‘Special P oints For Burning Coal’’.
W ood
Only dry well seasoned wood should be burnt on this appliance as
burning wet unseasoned w ood will give rise to hea vy tar deposits.
Befor e lighting the f ire c heck with the installer that the work and
checks described in the installation instructions have been carried
out correctly and that the chimne y has been swep t, is sound, and
free fr om any obstructions.
Do not light the fire before the boiler and
heating system hav e been filled with water as this can damage the
boiler .
If the appliance is f itted in place of an open fire then the chimney
should be swept one month after installation to clear any soot f alls
which may ha ve occurr ed due to the difference in combustion
between the appliance and the open fire.
Do not use an aer osol spray on or near the sto ve when it is alight.
There is a risk of explosion or flash ignition of the spray .
Y our SLX45 stov e has been designed to w ork with minimum effor t.
If any operation - such as riddling the grate or opening and closing
the door - begins to require extra f orce then the cause must be
investigated to pr ev damage being caused to the
stov e.
The stov e is not suitable for use in a
shared flue system.
ent and correct
Remember that the sto ve will be ho t and is made from har d
material. Ensure that y ou hav e good balance befor e operating the
f ire.
The follo wing smok eless fuels are suitable for use on this appliance:
Ancit (Phurnacite Plus), Anthracite Large Nuts, Phurnacite, or an y
fuel included on the HET AS list of Appro ved Smok eless Fuels for
Closed Appliances.
(http://guide.hetas.co.uk/guide/fuels_smok eless.html)
The abov e fuels are all suitable for use in smok e controlled areas. In
other areas the f ollo wing fuels may also be burnt:
For the same reason har d wood is be tter than soft wood. Burning
wet unseasoned w ood will also result in considerably r educed
outputs. The wood should be cut and split and then left to season in
a well v entilated dry place for at least one year but pr eferably tw o
years bef ore use.
P eat
Ensure that the peat is well dried before use. Burning wet peat will
give rise to heavy tar deposits and reduced outputs.
PETROLEUM COKE IS NOT SUIT ABLE FOR USE ON THIS
APPLIANCE, ITS USE WILL INV ALIDA TE THE GUARANTEE
At f irst you may find it helpful to try several fuels to f ind the mos t
suitable. If you are unable to obt ain the fuel you want, ask your
supplier or an approv ed fuel dis tributor to sugges t an alternative or
