4. Gebruik de pijltjestoetsen van de handcomputer om de uit focus ster naar de rand van het beeldveld te
verplaatsen, in dezelfde richting als het smalste deel van het ringpatroon. Het smalste gedeelte van het
ringpatroon moet dus tegen de rand van het beeldveld geplaatst worden. Staat het smalste deel van het
ringpatroon op 10 uur, dan dient u de uit focus ster op 10 uur langs de rand van het beeldveld te plaatsen.
5. Draai, terwijl u in het oculair kijkt, met een inbussleuteltje aan de schroef die u in
stap 2 en 3 heeft bepaald. Meestal is een kleine slag al voldoende om een verschil
te zien in het ringpatroon. Als de ster uit het beeld verdwijnt in de richting van het
smalste gedeelte van het ringpatroon, dan heeft u de schroef de verkeerde kant op
gedraaid. Draai de schroef in de andere richting zodat het ringpatroon zich naar het
centrum van het beeld beweegt.
6. Als u tijdens het draaien merkt dat de schroef erg los komt te zitten, dan draait u
eenvoudigweg de tegenoverliggende twee schroeven iets vaster, zorg ervoor dat u
beide schroeven evenveel vaster draait.
7. Zodra het ringpatroon in het centrum van het beeldveld staat, controleert u of de
ringen concentrisch zijn (zoals in figuur 7-3). Als er toch nog een smaller gedeelte
bestaat in het ringpatroon, blijf dan aan dezelfde schroeven draaien. Is het smalste
gedeelte verplaatst in het ringpatroon, herhaal dan stap 2 tot en met 6.
Als u een perfecte collimatie bereikt dan zal het ringpatroon mooi concentrisch zijn als u de
ster aan beide zijde van het focuspunt uit focus draait. Als uw telescoop perfect gecollimeerd
is levert hij de beste optische prestaties.
Als de seeing voorkomt dat u het ringpatroon goed kunt onderscheiden, wacht dan tot een beter moment.
