Red-eye Reduction
Using the flash to shoot at night or in a dimly lit room can cause red spots inside the
eyes of people who are in the image. This is caused when the light from the flash
reflects off of the retina of the eye. When red-eye reduction is selected as the flash
mode, the camera fires a pre-flash to cause the irises in the eyes of any people in the
image to close, which reduces the chance of red eye.
Note the following important points when using red-eye reduction.
Red-eye reduction does not work unless the people in the image are looking
directly at the camera (flash).
Red-eye reduction may not work very well if the subjects are located far away from
the camera.
The metering mode determines what part of the subject is metered for exposure.
1. In the REC mode, press [SET].
2. Use [8] and [2] to select the (Metering) Control Panel option, and
then press [SET].
3. Use [8] and [2] to select the setting you want and then press [SET].

Description
Multi None
Multi-pattern metering divides the image into
sections and measures the light in each section for
a balanced exposure reading. This type of
metering provides error-free exposure settings for
a wide range of shooting conditions.
Center
Weighted
Center weighted metering concentrates on the
center of the focus area to measure light. This type
of metering is best when you want some level of
control over contrast.
Spot
Spot metering takes readings at a very small area.
Use this metering method when you want
exposure to be set according to the brightness of a
particular subject, without being affected by
surrounding conditions.
