Properly used, household batteries are a safe and reliable mobile power source. Problems can only occur if they are used incorrectly, which can result in
leakage or, in extreme cases, fire or an explosion. Hence, please find below some simple guidelines for the safe use of batteries which can prevent the
occurrence of any problems.
• Be sure to insert your batteries properly, paying attention to the plus and minus labels on the battery and device.
• Incorrect insertion can lead to leakage or – in extreme cases – fire or even an explosion.
• Always replace the entire battery pack at once and be careful not to mix old and new batteries or batteries of different types as this may cause leakage
or, in extreme cases, fire or even an explosion.
• Keep unused batteries in their packaging and away from metal objects that may potentially cause a short circuit that could lead to a leakage or, in
extreme cases, fire or even an explosion.
• Remove empty batteries from your device and also any batteries from devices that you don’t intend to operate for an extended period of time. Batteries
may leak and cause damage.
• Never dispose of batteries in a fire, as this may cause them to explode. Dispose of used batteries at appropriate collection points.
• Never attempt to recharge normal batteries, either with a charger or by using heat. They could leak, cause a fire or even explode. Rechargeable batteries
exist that are clearly labelled as such.
• Supervise children when they replace batteries on their own to make sure that they follow these guidelines.
• Make sure that battery compartments are secured.
