Diameter calculation
Suction / discharge line > 4 m:
(for 38MHJ models)
The gas line is the suction line in cooling
and the discharge line in heat pump
operation. Its diameter is calculated for the
most unfavourable condition. This can be
as a suction or as a discharge line and has
to be checked afterwards for the other line
type. For example, in the configuration
shown in option A the suction speed will
produce the most unfavourable condition,
and the gas line diameter will be calculated
for suction.
Afterwards, the calculation sould be
checked for discharge.
The diameter calculation for suction and
discharge lines is done in the same way
using the corresponding drawing.
(for both 38MHJ and 38MC models)
From the drawing and for the unit selected,
for each diameter we can obtain a pressure
drop for a line of 10 m, of equivalent length.
For other equivalent lengths, the pressure
drop is obtained by direct proportion.
The total pressure drop for the line (the sum
corresponding to the horizontal and vertical
stretches) must not be greater than 3 psi or
20 kPa.

La linea del gas è in aspirazione in
raffrescamento e in mandata in riscalda-
mento. Il suo diametro è calcolato per la
condizione più sfavorevole sia in aspirazio-
ne che in mandata, controllando che sia
valida per entrambi i casi. Per esempio
nell’opzione A, la configurazione della
velocità di aspirazione produrrà la condizio-
ne più sfavorevole. Questo significa che il
diametro della linea sarà calcolato per
l’aspirazione. Poi la soluzione sarà verifica-
ta per vedere se è valida anche per la
mandata. Il diametro per l’aspirazione e la
mandata è completato nello stesso modo,
usando il disegno corrispondente.

Se si osserva il grafico in cui appare l’unità
scelta per ogni diametro, è possibile
ottenere la caduta di pressione corrispon-
dente alla linea, con una lunghezza di 10m
equivalenti.Per le altre lunghezze equiva-
lenti, la caduta di pressione è direttamente
proporzionale. La caduta di pressione totale
per linea (vengono sommati i tratti orizzon-
tale e verticale) non deve essere superiore
a 3 psi o a 20 kPa.
