Browser Remote: Controlling the Camcorder from a Network
Device
After connecting a network device to the camcorder via Wi-Fi, you can operate the camcorder remotely using
Browser Remote, a Web browser application that can be accessed using the Web browser on network devices*.
Using Browser Remote, you can check the camcorder’s live view image and control various recording settings.
On the Browser Remote screen, you can also check the remaining recording time on the card, remaining battery
charge and the camcorder’s time code.
* For details about compatible devices, operating systems, Web browsers, etc., please visit your local Canon website.
Setting Up Browser Remote
You can set a unique camcorder identification code and designate the port that the Browser Remote application
should use when accessing the camcorder through the network. The port number (HTTP protocol) used by
Browser Remote is usually set to port 80, but you can change it if necessary. The camcorder ID will appear on
the Browser Remote screen, making it easy to identify which camcorder the application is controlling in case of a
multi-camera shooting setup.
Camcorder Settings
1 Select [Browser Remote Settings].
> [ ! Network Settings] > [Browser Remote Settings]
2 To change the port number, select [Port No.].
To enter the port number, push the joystick left/right to select the digit to change and then up/down to select
a value for the selected digit. After completing the five digits of the port number, select [Set] and then press
SET.
3 To change the camcorder ID, select [Camera ID].
Enter the desired camcorder ID using the keyboard screen (A 27).
User Settings
A user name and password are required to log in to the Browser Remote application. You can set up to three
different users and select whether you want to allow single-user operation (full control) or two-user operation
(one controlling camcorder functions and another in charge of metadata input for clips).
[Full] Can access all 3 Browser Remote screens: [
v
] (main recording screen), [ ] (metadata screen)
and [ ] (basic screen).
[Camera] Can access only the [
v
] (main recording) screen. This would be the main operator controlling
the camcorder.
[Meta] Can access only the [ ] (metadata) screen. This would be the person in charge of keeping the
clip information up to date.
1 Select [Browser Remote Settings]
> [ ! Network Settings] > [Browser Remote Settings]
2 To select the number of Browser Remote users, select [Users Settings].
3 Select the desired option and then press SET.
If you selected [One User (Full)], perform steps 4-5 to enter the user name and password for the [Full] user. If
you selected [Two Users (Camera/Meta)], perform steps 4-5 twice, once for the [Camera] user and again for
the [Meta] user.
