Troubleshooting
Check the SD card
- You inserted a MultiMedia Card (MMC) or an SD card with a capacity of 64 MB or smaller into the camcorder. Use a
recommended SD card (A 38).
- Due to an SD card error, recording/playback Is not possible. Remove and then reinsert the SD card or use a different
SD card.
Cover is open
- The CF card slot cover or SD card slot cover was opened when the camcorder was switched to or turned on in
mode. Check that the recording media is correctly inserted and close the relevant card slot cover.
Data on CF A/CF B needs recovering Attempt to recover?
- If data on the CF card is corrupted, such as when the power suddenly turned off while recording, the data must be
recovered. When this message appears, select [OK] and then press SET.
Do not disconnect the USB cable or the power source until you safely end the connection from the computer.
- When the camcorder is in mode and is connected to the computer with the optional IFC-400PCU USB Cable,
the camcorder cannot be operated. Disconnecting the USB cable or power source while this message appears may
corrupt the recordings on the recording media in the camcorder. Use the computer’s Safely Remove Hardware
function to end the connection and disconnect the USB cable before using the camcorder.
Fan error
- The cooling fan may not be working properly. Consult a Canon Service Center.
File name error
- The folder and file numbers have reached their maximum value. Set [Other Functions]
> [File Numbering] to [Reset]
and delete all the MP4 clips (A 152) and photos (A 200) on the SD card or initialize it (A 41).
INFRARED switch position changed (ON/OFF). Check the focus.
- The focus may change when you turn the infrared mode on or off. Check that the focus is correct.
Invalid operation
- The following operations cannot be performed.
Adding a shot mark to an MXF clip that already has a shot mark or to an MXF clip in frame recording mode or
interval recording mode.
•Adding an $ mark to an MXF clip that already has an $ mark or adding a % mark to a clip that already has a %
mark.
In mode, immediately reviewing a recording made in a special recording mode.
Pressing the START/STOP button, or trying to start recording an MP4 clip, when there is no recording media in the
camcorder.
Management data is not supported and will be deleted
- This message may appear if you insert into the camcorder a CF card that was initialized by another Canon
professional camcorder. Check the contents of the CF card.
Management file error Cannot record
- Cannot record because the camcorder cannot write to the file control information. This may occur if the MXF files on
the CF card were accessed using another device. Save your MXF clips (A 166) and initialize the CF card (A 41).
May not be possible to record movies on this memory card
- You may not be able to record MP4 clips on an SD card without a Speed Class rating or rated CLASS 2 or 4. Replace
the SD card with one rated CLASS 6 or 10.
Media full
- The recording media is full. Delete some recordings (A 152, 200) to free some space or replace the recording media.
- CF card A or CF card B is full so recording will not start. Switch to the CF card in the other CF card slot to record.
Media is almost full
- The amount of available space on CF card A and CF card B combined is low. Replace the CF card that is not selected.
- The SD card is almost full. Delete some recordings (A 152, 200) to free some space or replace the SD card.
Media is not supported
- CF cards that are less than 512 MB or not UDMA-compatible cannot be used with the camcorder. Use a
recommended CF card (A 38).
Memory card is write-protected
- The LOCK switch on the SD card is set to prevent accidental erasure. Change the position of the LOCK switch.
No clips
- There are no clips on the recording media to play back. Clips must be recorded (A 47) in order to play them back.
No photos
- There are no photos on the SD card to play back. Photos must be taken (A 197) in order to view them.
