White Balance

White Balance
The camera uses an electronic white balance process to calibrate the picture and produce accurate colors under
different lighting conditions. There are 4 methods of setting the white balance.
You can also perform this function remotely using Browser Remote on a connected network device (A 170,
175).
Auto white balance (AWB): The camera automatically adjusts the white balance to the optimal level.
Custom white balance: You can use a gray card or white object with no pattern to calibrate the white balance
and set it to one of two custom white balance positions,
Å
A or
Å
B. You can further adjust the color
temperature value (K) and the color compensation (CC*) value.
Preset white balance: Set the white balance to
¼
(daylight) or
É
(tungsten lamp). You can further adjust the
color temperature value (K) and the color compensation (CC*) value.
User-set color temperature: The camera offers 5 white balance settings ( to ), each of which you can set
independently to a color temperature between 2,000 K and 15,000 K and further adjust the color compensation
(CC*) value.
* The CC value adjusts the balance of the image along the green/magenta gradation.
NOTES
NOTES
The [Color Matrix Tuning] and [White Balance] settings in the custom picture file (A 137) take precedence
over the white balance set with these procedures.
You can use the [WB] > [OPTIONS] > [Shockless WB] setting to make the transition look
smoother when you change the white balance settings.
You can use the [WB] > [OPTIONS] > [C. Temp. Increment] setting to set the units for the color
temperature to [Mired] (in 5-mired increments) or [Kelvin] (in 100-kelvin increments). Even with the [Mired]
option, the color temperature is converted to and displayed in kelvins. Note that changing the aforementioned
setting may alter the white balance.
When an optional RC-V100 Remote Controller is connected to the camera, you can adjust the white balance
with the remote controller’s AWB button, A button, B button, PRESET button and
Å
button.
The color temperatures displayed on the control display and monitoring screen are approximate. Use them
only as a reference.
Selecting the White Balance Mode/Setting
1 Open the [White Balance] screen.
HOME screen: [WB]
You can also select the white balance mode/setting using the direct setting mode (A 73).
2 Turn the SELECT dial to select the desired white balance setting.
The color temperature and CC value for the highlighted setting are displayed on the right side of the control
display and at the top of the monitoring screen.
Alternatively, you can press an assignable button set to [ AWB], [
Å
Set A], [
Å
Set B], [
¼
Daylight],
[
É
Tungsten] or one of the settings [ USER_01] to [ USER_05] (A 127).
To register a custom white balance, adjust the color temperature/CC value or rename a user setting,
continue with the following procedures.
