Do not misuse your torch or use it for applications for
which it was not designed.
Handle the torch very carefully. Take care not to drop
it.
Never leave the torch alight and unattended.
Do not inhale the combustion gases emitted during
utilisation. Respect the environment: deposit empty
cartridges in an appropriate place.
Removing the cartridge
The cartridge may be removed even if it is not
empty.
Replace the cartridge outside and away from other
people.
- Check that the gas supply is fully turned off by turning
the control wheel (2) clockwise as far as the handle
(direction “-” of the arrow) (fig. 4).
- Check to see that the flame of your torch is out before
disconnecting the cylinder.
- Hold the equipment, then unscrew the cartridge by tur-
ning it anti-clockwise and remove it (fig. 6).
Never throw away a cartridge which is not completely
empty, (check there is no liquid in the cartridge by sha-
king it).
STORAGE
- After complete cooling, the thermal weed killer must
be stored in a cool, dry and ventilated place, out of the
reach of children and never in a basement or cellar.
- In the case of the injector becoming clogged (the car-
tridge still contains gas but the equipment will not
light), do not try to unclog it yourself. Return the equip-
ment to your retailer.
- Remove the cartridge as shown in paragraph
“Removing the cartridge”.
GB
If there is a leak (smell of gas), put the lamp outside
immediately, in a well ventilated area, without heat
source, where the leak can be traced and stopped. If you
wish to check that your lamp is not leaking, do so outside.
Never trace leaks using a flame, use a gas leak solution.
USE
Lighting (fig. 7)
- Open the gas by turning the control knob (2) anti-clock-
wise about 1/4 turn (direction “+” of the arrow).
-Wait 3 to 5 seconds then hold a flame in front of the
burner.
Flame adjustment
Adjust the flame to the way you want it, depending on
the work to be done, by turning the adjustment knob (2)
in the direction of the "+" or "-" arrow.
Utilization limit
The nozzle of your torch cannot be used at an angle
above 30° with respect to the horizontal. Beyond this
limit, you risk obtaining large yellow flames (fig. 9).
Extinction
- Close the tap by turning the control knob (5) clockwise
as far as it will go (direction "-" of the arrow) (fig. 4).
- Be sure that the flame is out.
Wait 15 seconds before laying down or storing
your device after use.
How are weeds killed?
The idea is not to burn the plant, but only to heat it by
placing the torch tip about 5 cm above the plant for a few
seconds (fig. 8). Move forward at a strolling pace.
To check the effectiveness of weed killing, press a plant
leaf between two fingers right after passing the weed
torch over it: your fingers should leave a dark green and
somewhat translucent mark on the leaf.
Remarks
Avoid killing weeds when there is a strong wind or
when grass is damp: under these conditions, heat
loss is substantial and results are not good.
Other functions
You use your torch for operations other than weed killing
such as:
- Lighting barbecues
- Thermal stripping (paint or other)
- Basic welding operation
- Unfreezing of pipes or other
Important recommendations:
Always use the torch with extreme care, well away from
inflammable substances, wall or combustible object.
In the event of a leak (smell of gas), close the valve.
While in operation (and immediately afterwards) some
of the components are extremely hot (particularly the
burner nozzle). Do not touch these elements without
suitable protection.
