B) FITTING A CAMPINGAZ® CV 470 OR CV 270
CARTRIDGE:
(If there is already an empty cartridge in place, read the para-
graph "Removing the Cartridge")
When installing or removing a cartridge, always do it when the
appliance is cold (no charcoal embers), in a well ventilated
place, preferably outdoors and never near a flame, a heat
source or a spark (cigarette, electrical appliance, etc.) and
well away from other people and inflammable material.
Campingaz® CV 270 and CV 470 cartridges have valves so
they can be removed from this appliance to facilitate transport
even if they are not empty and can be fitted to other
Campingaz® appliances in the 470/270 range that are desi-
gned to operate exclusively with these cartridges.
After reading the paragraph entitled "Important" in these ope-
rating instructions:
1) Turn off the tap by turning the knob (D) clockwise ( " - "
direction of the arrow)
2) Unscrew the clip (a) as far as it can go without forcing it.
The arrow marked " 1 " (fig.22) indicates the direction it
should be turned.
3) Insert the 4 prongs (b) on the clip (a) into the top (c) of the
cartridge.
4) Screw the clip back on, without forcing it, in the direction
indicated by the arrow marked " 2 ".
In the event of a leak (if you smell of gas before the tap has
been opened), immediately put the appliance in a very venti-
lated place, away from sources of fire, where the leak can be
found and stopped. If you wish to check the tightness of your
appliance, do it outdoors. Do not check for gas leaks with a
flame - use soapy water.
C) INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:
1) Make sure that the trap door (A) is closed; if not pull the lever
(B), turning the point forwards and push it back into the loc-
ked position.
2) Raise the lid (C) (wear gloves & use the tool provided if the
barbecue is already in use), fill the lighting chamber with
charcoal and close the lid.
3) Turn the knob (D) of the tap anti-clockwise (" + " direction of
arrow) and press the piezo button (E). If the ignition strip
does not light up, press the piezo button again.
4) Wait for 5 minutes until the charcoal is glowing strongly,
then:
5) TURN THE GAS OFF BY COMPLETELY TURNING THE
KNOB (D) CLOCKWISE (" -" direction of the arrow).
DO NOT leave the gas burning while you are cooking.
6) Wait for 5 minutes and then open the trap door by pulling the
lever (B), make it pivot with the point facing downwards and
lower the glowing charcoal into the bowl.
7) Spread the charcoal over the whole base of the bowl using
the tool provided for this purpose, being careful not to let any
embers fall out of the bowl.
8) Close the trap door.
9) If you intend to cook for a long time, repeat steps 1) to 4)
being extra careful not to burn yourself with the glowing
charcoal in the bowl.
10) Put the cooking grill back into position (with the anti-flare
grid if desired) and cook the food. The grill should be placed
at the correct height to cook the food without burning it.
D) REMOVING THE CARTRIDGE:
NOTE: Do not change the cartridge if there are still char-
coal embers burning
After reading the paragraph entitled "Important" in these
operating instructions:
1) Check that the gas is turned off by completely turning the
wheel (D) clockwise ( " - " direction of the arrow).
2) Unscrew the clip, (the arrow marked " 1 " (fig.22) indicates
the direction it should be turned) as far as it can go but
without forcing it.
3) Pull on the cartridge to release the 4 prongs (b) on the clip.
The cartridge can be removed even if it still contains gas.
Before throwing a cartridge away, shake it to check that it is
completely empty: if there is no sound of liquid, the cartridge
is empty.
