Safety Guidelines:

• Trailercycle shall only be pulled by a responsible adult with good bicycle riding skills that weighs at

least twice the weight of the child.

• Burley trailercycles are designed for children ages 4-10 with sufficient coordination to pedal and

adequate strength to hold on to the handlebars tightly. Please consult your physician if you have an

questions about you child’s ability to ride to safely ride a trailercycle.

• Both riders must wear helmets.

• Adjust the seat and handlebar to the correct heights for each rider. Ensure that the minimum

insertion mark, or at least 2 1/2” (64mm), on the seat post remain inside the frame.

• Before your passenger gets on and off the trailercycle, come to a complete stop, straddle your

bicycle and hold it securely with the brakes engaged and both feet on the ground. Never rely on a

kickstand to secure the trailercycle.

• Practice with your child in an uncongested area. Pulling the trailercycle adds length and weight to

your bicycle; allow for ample time and distance to stop, start, and turn.

• Take short rides; stop frequently. Instruct your child to keep their feet on pedals and hands on

handlebars at all times.

• Recommended speed limits:

15mph (24km/h) on smooth, straight roads

5mph (8km/h) when turning or on uneven roads

• DO NOT exceed weight limit by attaching a rack, panniers, or other cargo to the trailercycle.

• DO NOT attach another trailercycle or trailer to the trailercycle.

• Keep the tire inflated to 30-35 PSI. Check pressure before each use. Do not use higher-pressure or

knobby tires. Be sure axle nuts are properly tightened.

• DO NOT use off-road.

• DO NOT use at night without proper lights on both cycles.

• Avoid rocks, curbs, hard braking, and sudden swerving.

• Never use trailercycle wither a motorized bicycle or vehicle.

• When trailercycle is used with a tandem, ensure that there is always an adult occupying the rear

position. Failure to do so will limit braking and steering performance.

• DO NOT make modifications to the trailercycle.

• DO NOT allow any of the child’s body, clothing, shoe laces, or toys to come in contact with any

moving parts.

It is recommended that a qualified bicycle mechanic does a safety check of the towing bicycle before

attaching the trailercycle.

It is recommended that a rearview mirror be used on the bicycle.

Always comply with local regulations when using the trailer on public roadways. Obey all local

requirements for lighting. The red reflector that came with the trailercycle must remain attached and

visible at all times. If you need to come to a stop for any reason, such as to check on your child, to make

adjustments, or to address a flat tire, be sure to pull off of the road completely.

Use good judgment when deciding if weather, road, or traffic conditions are safe to use a Burley.

Failure to comply with the instructions and safety guidelines in this manual could result in serious injury

or death of the passenger or rider.

• Burley-Fahrradnachläufer sind für Kinder im Alter von 4 bis 10 Jahren gedacht, die über

• Halten Sie vollständig an, bevor Ihr Passagier am Fahrradnachläufer auf- oder absteigen kann,

steigen Sie auf das Fahrrad und halten Sie es mit betätigten Bremsen fest. Behalten Sie dabei beide

Füße auf dem Boden. Vertrauen Sie zum Halten des Fahrrads nie auf den Fahrradständer.

• Üben Sie mit Ihrem Kind in einem verkehrsarmen Gebiet. Beim Ziehen eines Fahrradnachläufers

erhält Ihr Fahrrad zusätzliche Länge und Gewicht; achten Sie auf ausreichende Zeit und Strecke

zum Anhalten, Anfahren und Kurvenfahren.

• Machen Sie kurze Fahrten; halten Sie häufig an. Weisen Sie Ihr Kind an, immer seine Füße auf den

Pedalen und seine Hände am Lenker zu behalten.

• Empfohlene Höchstgeschwindigkeiten:

24 km/h auf glatten, geraden Straßen

8 km/h beim Kurvenfahren oder auf unebenen Straßen

• Überschreiten Sie NICHT die Gewichtsgrenze, indem Sie einen Gepäckträger, Fahrradtaschen oder

andere Fracht am Fahrradnachläufer anbringen.

• Bringen Sie KEINEN weiteren Anhänger am Fahrradnachläufer an.

• Sorgen Sie dafür, dass der Reifen immer mit 2 bis 2,5 bar aufgepumpt ist. Prüfen Sie den Druck vor

jeder Verwendung. Verwenden Sie keine Reifen mit höherem Druck oder mit groben Profilen. Achten

Sie darauf, dass die Achsmuttern ordnungsgemäß angezogen sind.

• NICHT abseits von Straßen/im Gelände verwenden.

• NICHT bei Nacht ohne ordnungsgemäße Beleuchtung an beiden Fahrrädern verwenden.

• Steine, Randsteine, starkes Abbremsen und plötzliche Ausweichmanöver vermeiden

• Verwenden Sie ein Anhängerfahrrad niemals mit einem motorisierten Fahrrad oder Fahrzeug.

• Wenn ein Anhängerfahrrad mit einem Tandem verwendet wird: Achten Sie darauf, dass immer ein

Erwachsener auf dem hinteren Fahrradsitz sitzt. Anderenfalls ist die Brems- und Lenkleistung

eingeschränkt.

• KEINE Änderungen am Anhängerfahrrad vornehmen.

• Darauf achten, dass Körper, Kleidung, Schuhbänder oder Spielzeug des Kindes NICHT mit

beweglichen Teilen in Berührung kommen.

Ein qualifizierter Fahrradmechaniker sollte vor dem Anbringen des Fahrradnachläufers eine

Sicherheitsprüfung des Zugfahrrads durchführen.

Am Fahrrad sollte ein Rückspiegel verwendet werden.

Halten Sie bei Verwendung des Anhängers auf öffentlichen Straßen immer die örtlichen Vorschriften

ein. Beachten Sie alle örtlichen Anforderungen in Bezug auf die Beleuchtung. Der rote Reflektor, der mit

dem Fahrradnachläufer mitgeliefert wurde, muss immer angebracht und sichtbar sein. Wenn Sie aus

irgendeinem Grund anhalten müssen, z. B. um nach Ihrem Kind zu sehen, Einstellungen vorzunehmen

oder sich um einen platten Reifen zu kümmern, sollten Sie die Straße verlassen.

Verwenden Sie den gesunden Menschenverstand, wenn Sie entscheiden, ob Wetter, Straßen- oder

Verkehrsbedingungen für die Verwendung eines Burley sicher sind.

Nichteinhaltung der Anleitung und Sicherheitsrichtlinien in diesem Handbuch kann zu schweren

Verletzungen oder Todesfällen von Passagier oder Fahrer führen.
