TRIP OPERATION MODE
THESE TOOLS ARE FITTED WITH 2 DIFFFERENT
ACTUATION MODES DEPENDING ON THE MODEL.
m WARNING! Always disconnect air supply before
making adjustments as accidental actuation may occur,
possibly causing injury.
SEQUENTIAL ACTUATION MODE:
Models: RN46-2-E, RN46K-2-E, RN46DW-2-M
CONTACT ACTUATION MODE:
Models: RN46DW-1EPAL
SEQUENTIAL ACTUATION
The sequential actuation requires the operator to hold
the tool against the work with the safety yoke depressed
before pulling the trigger. In order to drive additional
fasteners, the trigger must be released and the tool
lifted away from the work, before repeating the above
mentioned steps.
This makes accurate fastener placement easier, for
instance on framing, toe nailing and crating applications.
The sequential actuation allows exact fastener location
without the possibility of driving a second fastener on
recoil, as described under Contact Trip (below). The
sequential actuation tool has a positive safety advantage
because it will not accidentally drive a fastener if the tool
is contacted against the work - or anything else - while
the operator is holding the trigger pulled.
CONTACT ACTUATION
THESE TOOLS ARE FITTED WITH CONTACT ACTUATION.
m WARNING! Always disconnect air supply before
making adjustments as accidental actuation may occur,
possibly causing injury.
m WARNING! Tools marked with this symbol
have either contact actuation, continuous
contact actuation or selectable actuation with
contact actuation selected.
WHEN IN CONTACT ACTUATION MODE:
These tools are designed for use in production
applications such as pallets, furniture,
manufactured housing or upholstery. DO NOT
use for applications such as closing boxes or crates
and fitting transportation safety systems on trailers
and lorries. This tool shall only be used in safe working
places. Care must be taken to prevent accidental
actuation when changing from one working position to
another.
The common operating procedure on “Contact
actuation” tools is for the operator to actuate the safety
trip while keeping the trigger pulled, thus driving a
fastener each time the work is contacted. This will allow
rapid fastener placement on many jobs, such as pallet
assembly. All pneumatic tools are subject to recoil when
driving fasteners.
The tool may bounce, releasing the safety yoke and if
unintentionally allowed to re-contact the work surface
with the trigger still actuated (finger still holding the
trigger pulled) an unwanted second fastener will be
driven.
LOCK-OUT MECHANISM
This tool is equipped with a Lock-Out mechanism, which
is activated when the magazine be-comes empty. This
indicates to the operator that reloading is necessary. The
tool may not actuate when the Lock-Out is engaged, as
shown. (Fig 5)
SHINGLE GAUGE
This gauge can be used to control shingle spacing. To
adjust, push the gauge lever and slide the gauge to the
desired shingle exposure as shown. (Fig 6)
m
Warning! Disconnect the air supply before making
adjustments.
CLEANING THE NAILER
m
Warning! Do not use petrol or similar highly flammable
liquids to clean the nailer.
Vapour could be ignited by a spark, causing an explosion.
Tar and dirt may build up on the nose and trip lever. This
can prevent correct operation. Remove any build-up
with diesel or parafin. Do not dunk the nailer into these
solvents beyond the height of the nail heads, to avoid
getting the solvent into the drive cylinder. Dry o the
nailer before use. Any oil film left after cleaning will
accelerate the tar build-up, and the nailer will require
more frequent re-cleaning.
Note: Solvents sprayed on the nose to clean and free up
the trip may have the opposite eect! The solvent may
soften the tar on the shingles and cause tar build-up to be
accelerated. Dry operation is better, as noted above.
“DIAL-A-DEPTH™” FASTENER CONTROL
ADJUSTMENT (FIG 7)
The DIAL-A-DEPTH™ Fastener Control adjustment
feature provides close control of the fastener drive depth;
from flush with the work surface to shallow or deep
countersink. First, set the air pressure for
consistent drive in the specific work, then use the
DIAL-A-DEPTH™ Fastener Control adjustment to
give the disired depth of drive.
