3. Snap magazine spring o magazine block.
4. Lift rear of magazine up and pull magazine back.
5. Remove jammed staple.
6. Slide magazine forward, aligning locating pins with
holes in guide.
7. Push rear of magazine; do so with pin in magazine, block
engages hole in frame.
8. Wedge magazine spring back onto magazine block.
JAW CLOSURE (P88SJ-E, P100SJ-E)
The magazine opening of the jaw plate and the tightness
of the staple clinch depends on the number of washers
added to the jaw piston (Fig 4).
This adjustment should be made only by authorised
agents of Bostitch or by other experts giving due regard
to the safety, operating and maintenance instructions
in this manual and the Safety Operating Instructions
Manual.
TROUBLE SHOOTING (P51-5B-E / P51-10B-E)
Problem: Shuttle punches through board:
Solution: Pressure too high; staple leg too short.
Problem: Staple leg buckles and flattens
against work surface:
Solution: Staple leg too long, shuttle not down against
work due to worn shuttle piston o-ring.
Problem: Driver punches through board:
Solution: Worn driver piston bumper.
Problem: Staple ejects from nose before shuttle
contacts work surface:
Solution: Worn shuttle piston o-ring;
excessive air pressure.
Problem: Staple ejects from rear opening in shuttle
Solution: Worn driver piston o-ring
Problem: Air leaking through exhaust port:
Solution: Worn upper driver piston o-ring; worn upper
shuttle piston o-ring; worn valve stem seat.
Problem: Air leakage through nose piece:
Solution: Worn lower driver piston o-ring;
worn shuttle piston o-ring.
Problem: Staples tumbling in staple channel:
Solution: Feed springs overstressed; feed springs
broken; pusher binding on magazine core;
dirt inside magazine; excessive air pressure.
TROUBLE SHOOTING (P88SJ-E, P100SJ-E)
Problem: Serious air leaking from valve holes:
Solution: Lower O-ring and trigger valve worn out or
not in position. Replace.
O-ring plug of piston rod. Replace.
O-ring valves worn out. Replace.
Plug loose. Tighten.
Problem: Air leaking from hole under cylinder bridge:
Solution: O-ring piston worn out. Replace.
Problem: Does not drive staple but jaw closes:
Solution: Small valve dirty. Lubricate.
Exhaust pinhole plunger or too tight.
Clean pinhole and outer diaphragm.
Rod hole outside of tolerance limits.
Return within tolerance limits (0.75 mm).
Insucient lubrication. Lubricate.
Problem: Air leaking from valve holes:
Solution: O-ring piston valve not completely closed.
Replace inner piston valve O-ring and
lubricate.
Problem: Staples are not completely closed
Solution: Jaw fall block is bent or damaged.
Replace block.
Problem: Jaw does not return:
Solution: Bridge is not squared up. Square up.
Problem: Slow operations:
Solution: Lack of lubrication. Lubricate.
Rod hole outside tolerance levels.
Return within tolerance limits (0.75 mm)
Problem: Staples jam:
Solution: Driver worn out. Replace.
De-jamming block springs slack. Replace.
