reactions and/or lead to respiratory infections of the user or
bystanders.
Certain dust, such as oak or beech dust, is considered carci-
nogenic, especially in connection with wood-treatment ad-
ditives (chromate, wood preservative). Materials containing
asbestos may only be worked by specialists.
Provide for good ventilation of the working place.
It is recommended to wear a P2 filter-class respirator.
Observe the relevant regulations in your country for the ma-
terials to be worked.
uAvoid dust accumulation at the workplace. Dust can
easily ignite.
Operation
Starting Operation
Inserting the battery
Set the rotational direction switch (6) to the centre position
to protect the power tool from being switched on accident-
ally.
Slide the charged battery (9) from behind into the foot of
the power tool. Press the battery fully into the foot until the
battery is securely locked.
Setting the rotational direction (see figureB)
The rotational direction switch (6) is used to change the ro-
tational direction of the power tool. However, this is not pos-
sible while the on/off switch (5) is being pressed.
Clockwise: To drill and to drive in screws, press the rota-
tional direction switch (6) all the way to the front.
Anti-clockwise: To loosen or unscrew screws, press the ro-
tational direction switch (6) all the way to the back.
Preselecting the Torque
The torque presetting ring (2) can be used to preselect the
required torque in 20 stages. When the correct setting is
used, the application tool will be stopped as soon as the
screw is driven flush into the material or as soon as the set
torque has been reached. In position the overload clutch
is deactivated, e.g. for drilling or driving in very large screws.
When unscrewing screws, it may be advisable to select a
higher setting or the symbol.
Setting the operating mode (see figure C)
The operating mode presetting ring (3) can be used to
choose between screwdriving, drilling and impact drilling.
In the "impact drilling" position the overload clutch is deac-
tivated and it is constantly at maximum power.
Mechanical gear selection
uYou can press the gear selector switch (4) with the
power tool off or on. You should not do this at full load
or maximum torque, however.
You can preselect two speed ranges with the gear selector
(4).
If the gear selector switch (4) cannot be pushed all the way,
turn the drill chuck slightly with the drill.
First gear:
Low speed range; for working with a large drilling diameter
or for screwdriving.
Second gear:
High speed range; for working with a small drilling diameter.
Switching on/off
To start the power tool, press and hold the on/off switch
(5).
To switch off the power tool, release the on/off switch (5).
Adjusting the Speed/Impact Rate
You can adjust the speed/impact rate of the power tool when
it is on by pressing in the on/off switch (5) to varying ex-
tents.
Applying light pressure to the on/off switch (5) results in a
low rotational speed/impact rate. Applying increasing pres-
sure to the switch increases the speed/impact rate.
Emergency switch-off (KickBack Control)
The rapid shut-off function (KickBack Con-
trol) gives the user greater control over the
power tool and offers them better protec-
tion than power tools that do not have Kick-
Back Control. The power tool will switch off if it suddenly
and unforeseeably rotates around the drilling axis.
Rapid shut-off is indicated by the LED on the power tool
flashing.
To switch the tool back on, release the on/off switch and
then press it again.
uIt will no longer be possible to switch the power tool
on if the KickBack Control function is faulty. Have the
power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using
only original replacement parts.
Fully automatic spindle lock (Auto-Lock)
The drill spindle, and therefore the tool holder , are locked
when the on/off switch (5) is not pressed.
This enables screws to be screwed in even when the battery
(9) is empty and allows the power tool to be used as a
screwdriver.
Run-out brake
Upon releasing the on/off switch (5), the drill chuck is
slowed down, which prevents the application tool from con-
tinuing to rotate.
When driving in screws, you should therefore only release
the on/off switch (5) once the screw has been inserted flush
into the workpiece. This way, the head of screw will not pen-
etrate the workpiece.
Temperature-dependent overload protection
In normal conditions of use, the power tool cannot be over-
loaded. If the power tool is overloaded or the permitted bat-
tery temperature is exceeded, the electronics of the power
tool will switch off until the temperature returns to within the
optimum operating temperature range.
