■ Do not leave the tool key inserted.
■ Always direct the cable to the rear away from
the machine.
■ When working with the machine, always hold it
firmly with both hands and provide for a secure
stance.
■ Be careful when screwing in long screws; dan-
ger of sliding off.
■ If the drill bit becomes unexpectedly jammed,
the high power of the machine cause a sudden,
dangerous reaction. In this case, switch off the
machine immediately.
■ Always switch off the machine and allow to
come to a stop before putting down.
■ Bosch can assure flawless functioning of the
machine only when original accessories are
used.
The machine is intended for impact drilling in
brick, concrete and stone as well as for drilling in
wood, metal, ceramic and plastic. Machines with
electronic control and right/left rotation are also
suitable for screwing and thread cutting.
■ For all work with the machine, the auxiliary
handle 6 must be mounted and used.
The drilling depth can be set with the depth
stop 5.
■ Before any work on the machine itself, pull
the mains plug.
For changing the tools or the drill chuck easily and
quickly, the machine has a drill spindle locking fa-
cility thus eliminating the need to hold the drill
spindle by hand or by using a tool.
For this purpose, press the spindle locking but-
ton 2 and turn the drill chuck slowly by hand until
the drill spindle can be felt to lock and the drill
chuck is blocked.
Press the locking button only when at a
standstill.
Quick Clamping Chuck
Lock the drill chuck by pressing the spindle lock-
ing button 2 and hold pressed. Open the drill
chuck wide enough so that the tool can be in-
serted.
Press the locking button only when at a
standstill.
Turn the collar of the quick clamping chuck force-
fully by hand while the spindle locking button is
being pressed until a distinct engaging “click” can
be heard. The drill chuck is thereby automatically
locked.
The locking is released again when the front col-
lar is turned in the opposite direction to remove
the tool.
Gear rim chuck
Insert the tool and tighten all 3 bores equally with
the chuck key 12.
Screwdriver Tools
When using screwdriver bits 14, a bit holder 15
should always be used. Use only the screwdriver
bits that fit the screw head.
Set selector switch 3 to the drill symbol for the
screwing function.
Check for correct mains voltage: The voltage
of the power source must agree with the voltage
specified on the nameplate of the machine.
Equipment marked with 230 V can also be con-
nected to 220 V.

Brief activation
Switching on: Press the on/off switch 10.
Switching off: Release the on/off switch 10.
Continuous use
Switching on: Press on/off switch 10 and
retain with locking button 11.
Switching off: Press and release on/off
switch 10.
