If the fitted plug is not suitable for your socket out-
lets, it should be cut off and an appropriate plug fit-
ted in its place.
The severed plug must be disposed of to avoid a
possible shock hazard and should never be inserted
into a 13 A socket elsewhere.
Position the handle bottom 6 at the rear of the
motor cover.
Line up the holes and secure with the pivot
pins 10 provided.
Attach the handle top 3 with the bolts and wing
nuts 8 to the handle bottom 6.
Note: Ensure that the cable clips supplied are used
to fix the cable to the handle.
Attach cable to cable restraint 5 ensuring that suffi-
cient cable slack is available. (see figure )
The handle can be set in three positions, as in
figure C:
I Park position
II Handle location for mowing
III Handle location to enable mower to be hung on
walls.
To move the handle from location I or III to mowing
location II press together the tubes of the handle
bottom 6.
Stop, release switch lever, wait until the
motor stops and remove the plug before
adjusting height. The blades continue to
rotate after the machine is switched off, a
rotating blade can cause injury.
Your machine has four settings which adjust the
height of cut between 10-32 mm (figure D):
For the first cutting of the season, a high cutting ad-
justment should be selected.
Changing height of cut is achieved by rearranging
the position of the spacers 14:
Place the handle in vertical position and turn the
mower on its side. Inspect the blade 13 and fan 15,
if blunt or damaged replace.
Hold the blade 13 using gardening gloves (not pro-
vided) use the spanner/scraper provided to remove
the blade nut 12, spacers 14 and blade 13.
Fit the blade 13, rearrange the spacers 14 to obtain
desired setting (figure D) and fit the blade nut 12.
Ensure that the blade 13 is the correct way up (so
that this symbol can be seen located as in
figure D) and tighten the blade nut 12 firmly.
Always fit the three spacers 14. Do not fit extra
spacers.
The blade continues to rotate for a few
seconds after the machine is switched off.
Allow the motor/blade to stop rotating be-
fore switching “on” again.
Do not rapidly switch off and on.
To aid starting tilt mower to side.
Starting:
Press and hold the safety button 2.
(Figure E)
Squeeze the switch lever 1 towards the han-
dle.
Release the safety button 2.
Stopping:
Release the switch lever 1.
The motor cover is designed with a flexible mounting
and tilts to improve directional control.
Place the lawnmower on the edge of the lawn, as
close to the power point as possible. Work away
from the power point as in figure F. Then at right an-
gles.
Position the cable to opposite side (already cut) at
the end of each turn.
When mowing do not allow the motor to la-
bour particularly in heavy conditions.
When the motor labours the speed of the motor
drops and you will hear a change in the motor
sound, when this occurs stop mowing, release
switch lever and raise the height of cut. Failure to
do so could damage the machine.
