Cleaning
You must clean the device regularly to ensure that it ope-
rates smoothly and hygienically. It should be cleaned and
maintained at regular intervals:
Weekly: clean housing components.
Every 2 to 3 months: change filter cartridge.
Annually: clean device after heating season.
The humidifier can be opened for cleaning with a minimum
of effort and without the aid of tools:
Turn off the device and remove the plug from the
mains.
Lift the upper part of the housing with the power cable
to remove it. Never immerse this in water.
Remove the filter cartridge. Deposits in the air and
water build up and contaminate the filter/evaporator
cartridge while the device is in operation. The white
deposits are caused by limescale and not mould. It is
therefore recommended to replace them approximately
every 2 to 3 months.
Replace the filter cartridge sooner if:
It emits odour.
It is heavily contaminated or there is a lot of limescale
build-up (if your water is particularly hard for example).
Humidification performance is clearly impaired
(if your water is particularly hard for example).
Remove residues from the base of the housing and
clean it. You can use a limescale remover such as
CalcOff to remove limescale and mineral deposits.
Once or twice a year, use a damp cloth to wipe clean
the bottom of the ventilator unit.
Warning
Always clean the humidifier if it has not been
used for more than a week.
Switch the device off and remove the plug from the
mains before carrying out maintenance and after
each use.
Never immerse the device in water (ignoring this
advice may lead to a short circuit). Use only a damp
cloth to clean it, and dry it thoroughly afterwards.
Always remove the plug from the mains beforehand.
Ensure that there is no heavy build-up of dust around
the air intake and air exhaust grilles (fire hazard) and
clean them occasionally with a dry brush or vacuum
cleaner.
Notes on how a humidifier works
The drier the air in a room is, the more moisture is
emitted by the device. The self-regulating principle
between the air in a room and the humidifier prevents
excessive humidity. As such, the relative humidity
varies between approx. 45 and 60 %.
If extra humidity is required for larger rooms,
the humidifier can be placed close to a radiator
(do not exceed 50 °C).
It is recommended to use a humidistat to monitor
humidity.
Humidity is heavily restricted by circulating air (for
example, in rooms with poorly sealed/open windows
or in elevated rooms).
Please note that humidity increases as air temperature
rises and this can cause unwanted condensation in
some areas.
