LA CAJAS DE LOS SUBWOOFER
El sonido es generado por el movimiento de
vaivén de la membrana del woofer. Cuando la
membrana de un woofer se mueve hacia ade-
lante, se crea una onda de presión positiva. Al
mismo tiempo, se crea una onda de presión
negativa detrás del woofer. Al unirse ambas
ondas debido a la falta de una división entre el
área delantera y trasera de los altavoces, queda
prácticamente anulado el sonido reproducido
por medio del woofer y consecuentemente se
reduce considerablemente la reproducción de
los bajos. Esto significa que esta división, a la
cual se le llama bafle acústico, es indispensable.
El bafle acústico puede ser una caja o simple-
mente la bandeja trasera de su vehículo, la cual
separa unas de otras las ondas acústicas posi-
tivas y negativas del altavoz.
MODELOS DE CAJAS DE SUBWOOFER
En el sector CarAudio se utilizan principalmente cinco diferentes modelos de cajas de subwoofer:
ALTAVOCES CON BAFLE ACÚSTICO SIN FIN, CAJAS CERRADAS, CAJAS REFLECTORAS DE
BAJOS, CAJAS DE PASO DE BANDA CON VENTILACIÓN SIMPLE (frecuentemente denominadas
erradamente “cajas de 5° orden”) y CAJAS DE PASO DE BANDA CON VENTILACIÓN DOBLE
(frecuentemente denominadas erradamente “cajas de 7° orden”). Ninguno de estos tipos de caja es
superior al otro, ya que de todas formas deben hacerse compromisos individuales, sea en la potencia,
en la resistencia o en el montaje del sistema. La denominación “paso de banda” implica un
comportamiento acústico “integrado” con un alcance de paso alto natural de p.ej. 30 Hz, incluyendo
al mismo tiempo también un comportamiento de paso bajo en el cual se oprimen las altas frecuencias
(p.ej. > 80 Hz).
LOS ALTAVOCES CON BAFLE ACÚSTICO SIN FIN (fig. a) apro-
ve
chan el guardamaletas del coche como caja acústica. La bandeja
trasera sirve de separación entre las vías de sonido delanteras y
traseras. La ventaja es el simple montaje con una calidad de sonido
completamente conveniente en el caso de la mayoría de los sistemas.
Las desventajas son una reducida resistencia y un comportamiento de
impulsos relativamente débil.
LAS CAJAS CERRADAS (fig. b) son el mejor compromiso entre
capacidad y potencia, debido a que la membrana es “amortiguada”
hacia atrás gracias al aire encerrado en la caja. Las ventajas son la
simple construcción de la caja, alta resistencia, un comportamiento de
impulsos excelente y una suave transición de frecuencias en el sector
de los bajos. Las desventajas son el escaso rendimiento en las bajas
frecuencias y la necesidad de cajas relativamente grandes.
