Receiving traffic information stations with RDS-EON
Traffic announcement priority
While listening to the radio or to the CD
player, you can choose whether or not traffic
announcements should have priority or not.
To switch the priority on or off
press the TIM button for longer than 2
seconds.
TA will either light up or go out in the display.
Warning beep
If you leave the reception area of the traffic
information station you are currently listening
to, then you will hear a warning beep after
approximately 30 seconds.
If you have switched on the AF function,
SEARCH will soon appear in the display.
The radio will search for an alternative pro-
gram. If no alternative is found, then the
warning beep will sound once again.
Adjusting the volume for traffic an-
nouncements and the warning beep
This volume was preset at the factory.
If you would like to alter the setting, then
proceed as follows:
Press the DSC button.
Then press the rocker switch
/
repeatedly until TA LEVEL appears in
the display.
Use the rocker switch <</>> to set the
desired value from T1 to T9.
In order to store this new setting
press the DSC button.
You can store different values for this setting
separately on KeyCard 1 and 2.
Switching the warning beep off
In order to switch the warning beep off:
Select a different station.
Press the rocker switch
/
or
press one of the station buttons on
which a traffic information station is
stored.
Switch the traffic announcement priority
off.
Press the TIM button for longer than 2
seconds.
TA will disappear in the display.
Automatic station search start
(CD mode)
If you are listening to a CD and you leave the
reception area for the traffic information sta-
tion selected, then the car radio will automa-
tically search for a new traffic information
station.
Many FM stations regularly transmit current
reports on the traffic conditions in their broad-
casting area.
Stations transmitting traffic announcements
broadcast an identification signal that your
car radio can evaluate. If this signal is identi-
fied, then TP will appear in the display (Traffic
Program).
In addition to these, there are also stations
which do not actually transmit traffic informa-
tion themselves, such as NDR3, but by using
RDS-EON they make it possible to receive
the traffic messages broadcast by traffic in-
formation stations in the same station group.
If you listen to one of these stations, then TP
will also appear in the display as long as the
traffic information priority feature has also
been activated, i. e. TA must also appear in
the display.
Should a traffic announcement be broadcast,
then the radio will automatically switch to the
traffic information station in that group (in this
case, NDR2). The traffic announcement will
be played for its duration and then the radio
will automatically switch back to the original
program (NDR3).
