To charge the battery pack (9), insert it into the
charger (10) as shown and plug in the charger.
Be sure that the battery pack is fully seated in the
charger. The red charging indicator (11) will blink.
After approx. 1 hour, it will stop blinking and
remain on. The battery pack is now fully charged
and the charger automatically switches to
equalization mode. After approx. 2-4 hours, it will
switch to maintenance charge mode. The battery
pack can be removed at any time or left in the
connected charger indefinitely.
The red charging indicator flashes rapidly to
indicate a charging problem. Reinsert the battery
pack or try a new one. If the new pack also
refuses to charge, have your charger tested by
an authorized Elu repair agent.
When plugged into power sources such as
generators or sources that convert DC to AC,
the red charging indicator (11) may blink twice,
switch OFF and repeat. This indicates a
temporary problem of the power source.
The charger will automatically switch back to
normal operation.
Refresh mode (fig. A)
The refresh mode helps to maintain
the optimum capacity of the battery
pack. It is therefore recommended to
use the refresh mode weekly or every
10 charge/discharge cycles.
Please make sure to use the feature
whenever you notice decreased
battery pack performance.
Start the charging process as described above.
Press the refresh mode button (12). The red
charging indicator will stop blinking momentarily,
quickly blink three times and then resume blinking
as before. The charger is now in refresh mode.
After up to 8 hours, the red charging indicator will
stop blinking and remain on. The battery pack is
now fully charged and can be removed at any
time or left in the connected charger indefinitely.
To cancel refresh mode, you can remove and re-
insert the battery pack at any time.
Inserting and removing the battery pack
Insert the battery pack into the corresponding
slot in the tool until it clicks in place. You may
need to use some force to fully engage the
spring-loaded mechanism.
To remove the battery pack, press the two
release buttons (8) simultaneously. The spring-
loaded mechanism will push the battery pack off
the tool.
Selecting the operating mode (fig. B)
The rotary hammer drill can be used in two
operating modes:
Rotary drilling:
for screwdriving, drilling into steel, wood
and plastics
Hammer drilling:
simultaneous rotating and impacting for
concrete and masonry drilling
Select the required operating mode by rotating
the mode selector (3) towards the symbol on the
gear housing.
For screwdriving, refer to section “Instructions for
use”.
Inserting and removing SDS-plus accessories
(fig. C)
Your rotary hammer drill uses SDS-plus accessories
(refer to the inset in fig. C for a cross-section of an
SDS-plus bit shank).
Clean and grease the bit shank.
Insert the bit shank into the tool holder (7).
Push the bit down and turn it slightly until it fits
into the slots.
Pull on the bit to check if it is properly locked.
The hammering function requires the bit to be
able to move axially several centimetres when
locked in the tool holder.
To remove a bit pull back the tool holder locking
sleeve (13) and pull out the bit.
Fitting the side handle (fig. D)
The side handle (4) can be fitted to suit both RH-
and LH-users.
