6.3.2 Ajustedelcambio:
Coloque el cambio en el segundo punto (c). Gire el tornillo de
ajuste de la tensión del cable (d) hasta que haya logrado que encaje
perfectamente en el segundo piñón.
6.4 Sistemadecambioexterno.
El denominado cambio externo es el sistema de transmisión más
eciente para las bicicletas. Gracias a la forma especial de los
dientes del piñón, la exibilidad de la cadena y la indexación de la
palanca, el cambio de marchas se realiza con gran facilidad. En
algunos modelos, una indicación en la palanca indica la marcha en la
que se circula.
Las bicicletas de montaña y las bicicletas de cicloturismo
modernas pueden tener hasta 30 marchas. No obstante, la
cadena no debería estar demasiado cruzada, ya que se desgasta
fácilmente y el nivel de rendimiento baja. No es benecioso, p.
ej., que la cadena se sitúe sobre el plato pequeño en la parte
delantera y al mismo tiempo, sobre los dos o tres piñones externos
(pequeños) (a) o que circule con el plato delantero más grande y el
piñón trasero interno (grande) (b).
Lleve en todo momento ropa estrecha o utilice bandas para el
pantalón o algo semejante. De esta manera se asegura de que
su pantalón no se engancha en la cadena ni en los piñones.
Al cambiar de marcha con carga, es decir, cuando los pedales
soportan mucha fuerza, la cadena puede patinar. Con el
desviador, la cadena puede llegar a saltar y provocar una caída.
Esto como mínimo acorta notablemente la vida útil de la
cadena.
