Percentage lichaamsvet
De volgende lichaamsvetwaarden geven een richtlijn (neem voor aanvullende informatie contact op met
uw arts!).

Bij sporters wordt vaak een lage waarde vastgesteld. Afhankelijk van de tak van sport, trainingsintensiteit
en lichaamsbouw kunnen waarden worden berekend die zelfs onder de aangegeven richtwaarden liggen.
Let op, bij extreem lage waarden kunnen echter gezondheidsgevaren bestaan.
Lichaamsvocht
Het percentage lichaamsvocht ligt normaalgesproken binnen het volgende bereik:

Lichaamsvet bevat relatief weinig vocht. Daarom kan bij personen met een hoog percentage lichaamsvet
het percentage lichaamsvocht onder de richtwaarden liggen. Bij uithoudingssporters kunnen de richtwaar-
den echter overschreden worden als gevolg van een laag vetpercentage en hoog spierpercentage.
De berekening van het lichaamsvocht met deze weegschaal is niet geschikt voor het trekken van medi-
sche conclusies van bijvoorbeeld vochtopslag op basis van leeftijd. Raadpleeg indien nodig uw arts.
In principe moet u een hoog percentage lichaamsvocht nastreven.
Spierpercentage
Het spierpercentage ligt normaalgesproken binnen het volgende bereik:

Botmassa
Onze botten zijn evenals de rest van ons lichaam aan natuurlijke opbouw-, afbraak- en verouderings-
processen onderhevig. De botmassa neemt tijdens de kindertijd snel toe en bereikt het maximum bij 30
tot 40 jaar. Met het toenemen van de leeftijd neemt de botmassa dan weer af. Met gezonde voeding (voor-
al calcium en vitamine D) en regelmatige lichaamsbeweging kunt u de afbraak voor een groot deel tegen-
gaan. Met gerichte spierafbouw kunt u de stabiliteit van uw beendergestel extra versterken.
