Defrosting occurs automatically in the refrigerator section
during operation. The defrost water is collected by the
evaporating tray and evaporates automatically.
The evaporating tray and defrost water drain hole should
be cleaned periodically with the defrost drain plug. This will
prevent water from collecting in the bottom of the refrigerator,
instead of owing down the defrost drainage channel and drain
hole.
You can also pour a small amount of water down the drain
hole to clean inside of it.
You should be careful to make sure that food packages do not
touch the rear wall of the appliance, as this can interrupt the
automatic defrosting process and de ect water into the base of
your refrigerator.
If excessive ice deposits form on the back wall of the
refrigerator (larger than 3-5 mm), then you should switch off
the appliance using the thermostat dial. You should leave the
appliance off until the ice deposits have melted.
You should defrost the freezer compartment, when the frost
layer in the freezer reaches a thickness of around 3 – 5 mm.
24 hours prior to defrosting, you should turn on the fast freeze
function by pressing button E. This will continuously freeze the
food inside the freezer, helping to preserve it during the defrost
process.
After this period of time, empty the freezer of all food.
Switch the freezer section off by using the ON/OFF button for
the freezer section (B).
To drain the defrost water, you should pull the funnel shaped
groove at the bottom of the appliance out. Then place a
convenient vessel underneath the groove to collect the defrost
water.
Never use powered appliances, such as hair dryers, to aid the
defrost process.
Avoid using any defrosting sprays, as they may cause damage
to plastic parts and may be hazardous to your health.
Clean the interior of the appliance and thoroughly wipe it dry. If
you do not do this, ice may immediately reform as soon as the
appliance is switched back on.
Turn the freezer section back on by pressing the ON/OFF
button for the freezer section (B). You should run the fast
freeze function by pressing button (E) for 24 hours after the
appliance has been switched back on.
