7.4 Charging the battery pack removed from the bicycle
1. Disconnect the system by using the power switch.
2. To open the lock for the battery pack, use the key to your bicycle’s
frame lock. To remove this key from the frame lock, simply lock
your bicycle.
These instructions apply to the battery pack in the carrier:
3. Insert the key into the battery lock, and turn it to the left to re-
lease the battery lock.
4. Remove the battery pack by pulling it straight back.
Use both hands when removing the battery pack,
being careful not to drop it. Dropping the battery pack
on your foot could result in injury.
5. You can remove the key from the lock again [turn clockwise] and
insert it into your bicycle’s ring lock.
These instructions apply to the battery pack on the frame:
3. Insert the key into the lock for the battery pack and turn the key
clockwise to unlock the lock.
4. Remove the battery pack by pulling its upper side (by using the
handle) sideways to the left and then lifting it upward out of the
plug holder.
5. You can then remove the key from the lock for the battery pack
by turning it anticlockwise and inserting it again into the bicycle’s
frame lock.
TIP
• Charging will start automatically.
• If the display unit is turned on while the battery
pack is charging, all normal displays will be shown,
including
the battery capacity indicator, but the assist system will not function.
• When the battery pack is connected to the battery charger, battery charger lamp will flash at
approximately 0.2 second intervals to indicate that charging is preparing to charge the battery pack.
Leave it as it is and charging will start normally.
• Charging stops automatically once the battery is fully charged. You do not have to disconnect the
charger immediately. You can simply leave the charger connected to the battery all day or night.
5. Confirm that charging is complete, and then disconnect the
charging plug from the battery pack. How to disconnect the plug
(see the left figure):
1: Grasp the lock-release ring.
2: Pull it out straight.
6. Place the cap of charging inlet on the battery pack’s charging
connector.
7. Close the lid. (this applies only to the carrier battery).
Never handle the power plug or charging plug or touch
the charger contacts with wet hands. This could result
in electric shock.
