1. To adjust the height, the saddle pin
bolt must be loosened slightly.
2. The maximum height marks with
warning text may never be visible after
the adjustment (1). This means that the
saddle pin is inserted far enough into
the seat tube (minimum of 7 cm).
3. By loosening the saddle clamp bolt
(A) or saddle bolt (B), you can tilt the
saddle as well as adjusting it forwards
or backwards (2).
4. After having adjusted everything,
tighten all the nuts and bolts again (as
indicated in the table of tightening
torques in the chapter on Safety / main-
tenance).
5. Check whether the nuts and bolts
are tight regularly between trips.
Some bicycles are equipped with a
saddle which can be adjusted horizon-
tally. This Batavus innovation enables
you to adjust the saddle forwards and
backwards easily, with the aid of a
quick release lever. Moving the saddle
forwards gives you a ‘sporty position’,
while moving the saddle backwards
ensures a more ‘relaxed position’.
1. To adjust the saddle to the correct
horizontal position, loosen the quick
release lever by turning it (3).
2. This will enable you to shift the sad-
dle forwards and backwards.
3. Tighten the quick release lever again
once you have determined the desired
position. When you tighten the quick
release lever, the handle turns 180º. It
meets with resistance during a third of
this distance and not during the remai-
ning two thirds.
Your Batavus dealer
will be happy to show you how it works.
4. Check whether the quick release
lever is tight (beyond the dead centre
position) regularly between trips.
Various Batavus models have a Batavus
compact suspension saddle pin. As a
result of the compact design of this
saddle pin, the same frame size can be
used. There are two versions of the sad-
dle pin. One model works with the aid
of a metal spring. The other is equip-
ped with a combination metal and
elastomer (plastic cushioning) spring.
Both models can be adjusted to suit
your requirements using a hexagonal
key underneath the saddle (4). They
provide better cushioning from irregu-
larities in the road, resulting in even
more comfort. The saddle pin must be
