7.5 Making optimal use of the tray
3The different uses of the tray are illustrated in Figures 4, 5
and 6 and 7 on page 101.
Your appliance is covered with a tray. You can use this tray:
To cover your appliance when you are not using it (Fig. 4).
When covered with the tray, you can use the appliance as a
side table.
As a serving tray (Fig. 5). Turn the tray upside down, fill it with
drinks or snacks and you're ready to serve your friends.
To clean your grill (Fig. 6). Turn the tray upside down, put the
grill in the tray and spray it with the Barbecook cleaner.
1Never put the tray on the appliance while still hot. Only
use the covered appliance as a side table, never sit on it
(Fig. 7).
8 MAINTAINING THE APPLIANCE
8.1 Cleaning the bowl
3The main steps of this task are illustrated in Figure 8, on
page 102.
We recommend cleaning the bowl after each use. Proceed as
follows:
1Let the appliance cool down completely and remove the grill.
2Close the air supply holes at the bottom of the central pipe
(Fig. 8a).
3Remove the bottom grid from the bowl and brush the ashes
into the pipe (Fig. 8b).
4Lift the appliance and pour the ashes from the central pipe
into a bucket (Fig. 8c).
8.2 Cleaning the grill
3The main steps of this task are illustrated in Figure 6 on
page 101.
We recommend cleaning the grill after each use, with the
Barbecook cleaner. Proceed as follows:
1Turn the tray upside down and put the grill in the tray.
2Spray the foam on the grill and let it act for a while.
The foam discolours, as it soaks off the dirt and greases.
3Remove the foam with a bristle and water.
4Rinse the grill thoroughly and dry it well.
5Rub the grill lightly with oil and wrap it in paper. This
prevents formation of rust.
6Store the grill indoors, in a dry place.
2You can also clean the grill with a soft detergent or with
sodium bicarbonate. Never use oven cleaners on the grill.
8.3 Storing the appliance
Store the appliance in a dry place (indoors, under a shelter...)
after each use.
2Make sure the appliance is completely dry before you
store it. This prevents formation of rust.
8.4 Maintaining enamel, stainless steel,
chrome and cast iron parts
The appliance is composed of enamelled, stainless steel,
chromed and cast iron parts. Each material has to be maintained
differently:
1To prevent formation of rust on stainless steel, avoid
contact with chlorine, salt and iron. We recommend not
using the appliance near the coast, near railways or near
swimming pools.
1Damages caused by not following these instructions are
regarded as inadequate maintenance and are not
covered by the warranty.
Below the exploded view of your appliance (second part of the
manual), you find a list with all parts of which the appliance is
composed. This list includes a symbol that specifies the material
of each part, so you can use it to check how you have to maintain
a particular part. The parts list uses the following symbols:
Material How to maintain this material
Enamel Do not use sharp objects and do not knock
against a hard surface.
Avoid contact with cold liquids while still hot.
You can use metal sponges and abrasive

Use soft detergents and let them act on the
steel.

before storing.

and do not put in the dishwasher.
