Important! Please read the manual before using this
appliance.
USING YOUR AMICA FOR THE FIRST TIME
When using your Amica for the first time, we strongly
recommend allowing it to burn for half an hour before
preparing any food.
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Place the ceramic burner box on the placemat
provided. Poor 0.5 l water into the box.
2. Place the stainless steel internal burner box in the
ceramic burner box.
3. Cover the bottom of the internal burner box with
lighting gel (approx. 250 ml) to just below the air
holes.
4-5. Place the bottom grid and pour approx. 300 g Cook
Chips onto the grid. Leave sufficient space between
the Cook Chips to facilitate lighting of the gel.
6. Light the gel using a long match or lighter. This is a
slow-acting gel: hold the match briefly against the
gel until you can clearly see flames. You can then
spread out the charcoal again.
7. After a couple of minutes the size of the flames will
increase to approx. 30 cm. The lighting gel will have
burnt down after approx. 20 minutes.
8. Some 30 to 40 minutes after lighting, when the
Cook Chips are covered with a fine layer of grey
ash, you can fit the cooking grid. Your Amica is now
ready for use.
9. Do not fit the baking plate before the Cook Chips
have a nice white colour, otherwise you will smother
the fire.
10. Wash the baking plate and the cooking grid at
regular intervals to prevent the caked fat from
starting to smoke.
SAFETY
1. Do not use indoors!
2. Never use the Amica in the presence of strong
winds.
3. Always place the Amica on the silicone mat provided
and on a firm base, away from inflammable objects
and objects liable to melt. The silicone mat protects
your table from heat and scratches.
4. Fill the ceramic burner box with 0,5 l water prior to
each use.
5. Pour max. 300 g Cook Chips into the internal burner
box. Always use dry barbecook
®
Cook Chips
(complies with RD 28/04/1993, NBN M 11-001 and
EN 1860-2).
6. CAUTION! Never use alcohol or petrol for lighting or
stoking up the fire. Use only fire lighters that comply
with EN1860-3! Never pour inflammable or similar
liquids over the Cook Chips. Pour the barbecook
®
lighting gel into the cooled-down internal burner
box, below the bottom grid and below the Cook
Chips. Do not add lighting gel if the gel or Cook
Chips are already burning.
7. NOTE! The Amica can get very hot and should not
be moved until the fire is completely extinguished
and it has cooled down completely.
8. WARNING! Keep children and animals a safe
distance away from the barbecue, protect yourself
from the fire. Never leave the barbecue unattended.
9. Never grill in the flames. Wait until the Cook Chips
are covered with a fine layer of grey ash.
10. Use only the handle provided to move the grids and
the griddle.
11. Do not wear thin and loose fitting synthetic clothing
near the barbecue.
USEFUL TIPS AND SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
1. To reduce smoke formation or flare-ups from the
food: use the griddle provided • Grill lean meat/fish
