c. Evolution graph
Closely managing your weight involves patience and
discipline. Overdoing it to hurry results is rarely bene-
cial and can lead to uctuations in weight. For lasting
results, it is best to envisage long-term management.
To help you monitor the consistency of your eorts,
the Ultra-at Design Impedance Analyser has a graph
that shows you the evolution of your weight over the
course of the weighings.
On this graph, the horizontal axis is the time line. Your
last 7 weighings are represented on it in chronological
order starting from the left. The vertical axis represents
the weight: it records the changes in your weight over
the course of these 7 weighings and transcribes them
again according to a 6-level graduation. The graph that
is obtained shows you the progressive curve of your
weight. In this way, you can adjust your eort at any
time depending on the direction in which it leans.
d. Body fat
For more permanent weight loss, you need to reduce
the fat while making sure your muscle mass stays the
same or increases. If it is poorly managed, a diet gener-
ally results in a progressive wasting of the muscles. A
loss of weight is thus quickly felt. This loss of weight,
however, is short term: in losing muscles, the body
ends up burning fewer calories than it absorbs and
storing the surplus. Generally a progressive weight
gain follows.
